We had members of Church of the Good Shepherd in Norton, Virginia come this week to help pack our weekend food bags for our little Bears! They were joined by several of our National Honor Society students who helped to pack and distribute bags, and together they made a huge difference!

We are so grateful for everyone who gives their time, energy, and heart to help make sure our students have food to take home on the weekends. It truly takes a community, and we are blessed to have such incredible support!

We had such a GREAT group come pack bags with us on Tuesday! 🧡💙🐻

Thank you to Ms. Donna, who stayed after school to help me set up our packing line. That prep work was a HUGE help and made everything run so much more smoothly!

We were also thrilled to have a wonderful group from the Southwest Virginia Children’s Advocacy Center join us! They helped us pack bags and were able to take their food for the month of October with them. We are so grateful for our partnership with the Children’s Advocacy Center. They are always so appreciative of what we do, and I am just as grateful for them and their willingness to jump in and help us when we need it!

We also had members of Trinity United Methodist Church and members of the local AARP come out to lend a hand. Thank you all for giving your time and helping us keep our program moving!

Together, we were able to:
📦 Unload and stock a shipment of food
🎒 Pack the Children’s Advocacy Center’s October bags
🎒 Pack the weekend bags for our Bears this week
🛍️ Double bags for next week

It takes a community to keep our little Bears fed, and we are incredibly thankful for every person, church, organization, and volunteer who continues to show up for them. Thank you for being part of the Union Bears family! 🐻🧡💙

We want to say THANK YOU to the Union High School Student Government Association, National Honor Society, Ms. Powers, Ms. Castro, and PreK teachers Ms. Greer and Ms. Donna for coming out to help the Union Bears Backpack Program this week! 🐻

Our UHS students not only brought in the generous donations collected during the UHS Homecoming Food Drive, but they also jumped right in to help us unpack boxes, stock our pantry, and pack this week’s weekend bags! Since school was out for the day, they helped us deliver bags to the teacher’s classrooms too! 📦🛒🎒

I absolutely LOVE seeing our high school students giving back to their community and helping take care of the younger students who come behind them. There is something so special about Bears helping Bears! 🐻💙🧡
