I don’t do this much, I usually just watch and stay silent.. but as the owner of
Lock No.4 Coffee here’s a little bit of my grits and grace on the Small Business World..
A little business-to-business thought… ✨
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that there is enough room for all of us to succeed.
I’ve never believed that tearing down another business makes mine stronger. Every small business represents a dream, a risk, countless sacrifices, sleepless nights, and someone brave enough to bet on themselves. I respect that, whether their journey looks like mine or not.
A wise person once told me, “Not every cow is milked the same way.” Those words have stuck with me. There is more than one path to success, more than one way to serve a community, and more than one way to build something meaningful.
We won’t always agree on how things are done, and that’s okay. Different ideas, different approaches, and different strengths are what make our communities thrive.
When I see another person chasing their dream, I don’t feel threatened…I feel inspired. Because I know what it takes to step out in faith, work through the setbacks, and keep showing up even when no one sees the hard parts.
So I’ll continue to stay in my lane, focus on growing what we’ve built, celebrate the success of others, and support fellow small businesses whenever I can.
Because true success isn’t measured by who you can outshine, it’s measured by the lives you impact, the relationships you build, and the legacy you leave behind.
My favorite quote I live by
“Build your tables longer NOT your fences higher”🤍
Let’s choose encouragement over criticism, support over competition, and community over comparison. It’s just better 🫶🏻
When one small business succeeds, it reminds others that their dream is possible too. ✨☕️
