Granny’s little backyard chicken adventure is over. The last of the chickens have moved, coops have been sold, and the backyard cleaned up and reclaimed.
It was a wonderful adventure for nearly 8 years. Now it’s time to close the shutters and say goodbye.
Thanks for your support, Peeps 😘

This will probably be my final post. Granny’s shutting down the backyard chicken flock. It’s been an amazing adventure and I’ve enjoyed it all. Never lost a chicken to a predator , never been attacked by a rooster and I had a lot of them, never lost a baby chick that my Broodies hatched, and never had a momma harm or reject her babies. All were great mothers and easy to handle and help. We hatched a lot of chicks here over 7 1/2 years. My chickens were always teaching me something about life. They were great companions, helped me heal after a profound loss.
Time now to concentrate on the pups, the property, the family.
Thanks for being part of our chicken keeping adventure.
Peace out

Hanging out with my peeps on this beautiful, unseasonably warm 70 degree day in mid February.
Having a conversation with Agatha. Every time I sat down Agatha and the little black Japanese bantam, Jack Black, came running. They entertain me. Love my chickens.

Winter birds

Making trails through the snow to the chickens and the birds. Lots of snow, lots of shoveling.
