Steve from Allen's here, and yeah, I didn't want to believe it, like maybe it was really just a nightmare, and I was going to wake up and everything would be okay again. But after 18 years as the very Epicenter of the "Bella Vista Universe," Papa Mike's is really closed...... forever 😞 obviously I already knew it, but I forgot to tell my truck, so after a tough day at work, and needing to see friends and family, IT headed up Riordan tonight, and pulled in the parking lot, like it has a million other times. But instead of "Catfish Friday," we found ourselves on the outside looking in. Instead of a line out the door, smiling faces coming out, and the hustle and bustle of the servers, I found a dark, deserted restaurant, the Papa Mike's sign already taken down, and an uneasy, angry feeling in my stomach.
With restaurants closing up and going out of business every single day, who in the WORLD would consider closing down a very "lifeblood of a community," SUCCESSFUL one, only to spend about $1,000,000 or so to remodel, rebrand, and ATTEMPT to start another one, nearly a year later in the very same place!!!!!
Uh oh! didn't mean to start that up, because what would I, a simple "local grocer" (and BTW, a former 4 year BVPOA Board Member) know :-( so here's all I really need to say (but if you can't tell, I'm REALLY POed, so I won't "delete" my rant) Tomorrow, Saturday November 4, from 2-5, Papa Mike's will come alive one more time as we honor HIM, his family, and his staff for 18 years of not only feeding us, but of making our very LIVES better. Please stop in and say hi, take a photo, shake a hand, hug a neck, and laugh or cry and share a memory (or 200) you've/we've made here. He's furnishing cake, but if you'd like to bring a dessert to share with your friends here, please feel free. I know it's late (or early) and you're tired of reading, so please just BE here. Steve from Allen's here at Papa Mike's for the final day :-( of an unbelievable 18 year "run." It's also though, a really SPECIAL day, with family and friends all around. He's open until 3 pm this afternoon for as always, the best breakfast in Bella Vista, so there's still time to get here one last time. Don't forget that next Saturday, November 4th, we're honoring him with an "open house reception" from 2-5. We'll have soft drinks, but we'd be honored if you'd bring your favorite cookies, cake, or pie, to share with us, and let him know how much you appreciate him, his family, and his crew. Steve from Allen's here. It's been 18 years that our friend Papa Mike has been feeding us, caring for us, and letting us gather at the restaurant for concerts, card games, golf stories, birthdays, anniversaries, Wedding receptions, and even Celebrations of life. When we entered his doors, we were instantly with friends and family, and for that we'll never forget him. Unfortunately due to the BVPOA's termination of his lease :-( next week will be his last, with normal hours through Sunday October 29th, and I know you'll want to stop in before he closes.
Then, on Saturday November 4, there'll be a reception for him and Janet, from 2-5 pm at the restaurant, as we ask that you stop by, share a story or two, get a photo or 2, and thank him for all he's done for us. We'll have a couple of sheet cakes and soft drinks, but we have absolutely no idea how many folks to expect, so if you'd like to help by bringing a favorite cake, pie, or cookies, we'd be delighted. Questions, ideas, or ?, feel free to get with us here on Facebook, or get with me at Allen's. Again, it's Saturday afternoon, November 4 from about 2 until 5 and we look forward to seeing you :-) Steve.

Thanks to all of you who bought tickets to tonight's Nace Brothers Concert tonight, it's a SELLOUT 😀 To those with tickets, the doors will open at 5 pm, with reserved seating. We'll start the buffet about 5:30 and the the band will start about 6:30. Tickets are in for "The Final Fling" Concert with The Nace Brothers Band right here at Papa Mike's 😀 The Naces are Mike's favorite band, and he'd be delighted if you join us! There'll be 2 hours of world class music, PLUS his famous BBQ buffet. It's Saturday night, October 14th, (the Hogs play at 11 am) with doors and food about 5:30 and the band at 6:30 or so. The Naces have over 40 years as a touring group, performing with Jimmy Buffet, Delbert McClinton, The Guess Who, Paul Thorn,The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Merle Haggard, and a host of others. Steve from Allen's here, and like you, we love our friends at Papa Mike's, so thought we'd do something nice for them. Because of the closing of his restaurant on October 29th, and because he's fed us, let us meet up with our friends to play cards, have birthday and anniversary parties, hear great music, settle up our golf bets, and SO much more, we'd like to return the favor. We're having an Open House Reception for him, his family and staff, Saturday, November 4th. It's from about 2-5 and yeah, we initially stated Oct. 28th, but it's indeed November 4. It'll be at the restaurant, and we're asking you to stop in, and maybe even bring a cake or pie, some cookies, or your best dessert so HE doesn't have to do it 😀😃🙂 Help us decorate or have a great idea? It was a perfect evening of great food, friends, and fun at Papa Mike's, with the Tuesday night dining out group. Make sure YOU swing by for Burger Basket Wednesday, Catfish Friday, or the best breakfast around, Sunday after church. It's Papa Mike's in the Kingsdale Golf Complex, (2 Kingsdale Lane) in Bella Vista.

That's right, it's one last Concert at Papa Mike's, and a night you'll not soon forget. Warrensburg, Missouri's favorite sons, The Nace Brothers (Papa Mike's all time favorite band) will make a return visit, bringing you 2 hours of world class music, PLUS you'll get Mike's famous BBQ buffet. It's Saturday night, October 14th, (yeah it's the Hogs/Alabama football game) with doors at 5, food about 5:30 and the band at 6:30 or so. The Naces have over 40 years as a touring group, featuring brilliant songwriting, great vocals, soaring guitar and keyboards, and a rock solid rhythm section. They've performed with Jimmy Buffet, Delbert McClinton, The Guess Who, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Merle Haggard, Commander Cody and a host of others. That's right, Saturday night, September 2, Silver City New Mexico's Soul and Blues Singer "extraordinaire" Missy Andersen and her One Man Band/Husband Heine make a return visit to Papa Mike's. Tickets are $25 each, available at the counter, and include the concert plus Mike's Famous BBQ Brisket Buffet. It's also my 7th annual 😉 60th Birthday Bash and I don't want a gift or even a card, but I promise it'll be a great time and I'd love it if you'd be here 😀 Doors open for happy hour at 5:30 with dinner at 6 "ish" and a couple hours of music and fun starting at 6:45 or so. It's hard to imagine but it's been 4 years since my last 60th birthday party (2019) ;-) with Missy Andersen and her One Man Band, but we had so much fun that we're doing it one more time! That's right, on Saturday September 2 from 5:30 - 8:30 or ? Papa Mike's is hosting my 7th annual 60th birthday bash and you're invited. $25 gets his famous BBQ buffet and some of the best blues/soul singing and hottest guitar on the planet.
