The Tap House at Catamount Glass

This is not a decision we have come to lightly, and that is due in part to the wonderful support we have received from our community over the past 50 years of doing business in Bennington. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making our small businesses so hard to leave behind. Alain and Irene Karyo began Catamount Glassware in the early 1970s, after running several businesses togeth

er in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. With their artistic skill, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit, Alain and Irene grew Catamount Glassware from its humble beginnings into an international business operating out of our historic building in downtown Bennington. This company has always been family-owned and operated, a core value which held true as the business expanded to include the Tap House at Catamount Glass in Spring 2015 and remains true to this day. Adam Volpi, son of the late Catamount Glassware founders Alain and Irene, and his wife Amy have dedicated countless hours to operating Catamount Glassware and The Tap House. Their children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members have been instrumental in the life of these businesses, contributing as employees and as a strong support system. The past couple of years have not been easy for any business owner, and we are thankful to all who helped us weather this storm. We would be nothing today without our wonderful staff, and we owe a great deal of our successes to their hard work and dedication. Over the years we have had the pleasure of working with numerous talented, kind, and hardworking employees who truly made a difference in our lives and the life of our business. We have made the difficult decision to close our businesses not to run from the difficulties of being small business owners, which has always been a joyful challenge for us, but to run towards so many other things: We are looking forward to spending more time with family and less time worrying about glassware shipments in a world of delayed shipping times. We are looking forward to relaxing together without thinking about pricing and materials and constant innovation. We will miss so many aspects of running our small businesses, but we are ready for this change. So, thank you, Bennington, for your endless support and for all the good times. We will miss seeing you on the Tap House patio for a cold beer on a beautiful summer day. We will miss printing custom glassware for your milestone celebrations. We will miss live music and graduation parties in the Production Room. Most of all, we will miss serving our community through our small businesses. Thank you for the memories.
