One year ago this weekend, we “opened the doors” of the brewery; even though we were quite a ways away from serving beer, or even making it, we wanted folks to be able to take a look inside, talk about our plans and also kick off our Mug Club membership. So Mug Clubbers, this is the official start of the your first year membership!

In honor of our unofficial kickoff last Alumni, we’re dropping a t-shirt design this weekend to…um…honor the occasion. 🤣 Thanks go out to Erin and John Shaw at SPoT ON Screen Printing for helping us with the design, and being flexible finalizing things with us while we were in Canada!

Just as a reminder, we have other merch in-house; pint glasses, golf balls, golf towels, the coolest little bag hanger gadget you’ve ever seen, tote bags, stickers, and of course other apparel.

Alumni.

If you’re from Bellows Falls, you know what that means; once a year, on Father’s Day weekend, you reconnect with old friends. Some of them might’ve come from thousands of miles away, and others might just live somewhere else in the village and you see them in passing every day or so.

I traveled a lot in my previous career, and casual conversations would always come around to where I was from (yes, on more than one occasion I was asked what state Vermont was in!), and what it was like to grow up in a small, southern Vermont town. Alumni weekend always came up, because it’s a part of what Bellows Falls is, and people were always so fascinated to hear about it.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say we take it for granted, but outside folks seem to see it with a fresh set of eyes, and recognize how special it is because it’s something they’ve never experienced in their own hometown.

None of the four ladies who are making this sign graduated from Bellows Falls; Cheryl is a North Walpole girl and Ellen grew up in Long Island, and the other two, Sarandon and Katherine, are visiting Chris and Cheryl from California. The thing they have in common is that they see how special this weekend really is.

Ray L’Abbe is the keeper of the trophy for the next year!
Ray boated a 32” Northern Pike on the first day, and held on to the lead for the entire week, holding off several challenges.
At 80 years old, Ray is also the patriarch of our group, and has been coming on the trips for 24 years!
As you can imagine, the trip is less about the fishing and much more about the group dynamic; members come and go through the years, but the take-away of the trip is about camaraderie and the sharing of the experience for one week of the year.
We’ve all gained siblings, children and parental figures over these years of being together. ❤️

Wow, did we ever get an upgrade in the staffing department!

The brewers are gone for the next two weekends, and the Women of 7 Balls will be running the show!
Make sure to stop in to say “Hi!”, give them your support and encouragement, and we’re guessing they’ll be taking suggestions on what the payback should be for them stepping up for us like this! 🤣🍻

The boys will be back at it on Sunday, June 7th! 🍻

Next up for experimental beers at 7 Balls this weekend is Dunk Tank, our take on a classic German beer, the Munich Dunkel.

The Dunkel (“dark” in German) was the original style of beer in Bavaria, predating modern pale lagers. With its malt-forward profile, deep ruby-brown color and smooth drinkability, it offers a dark beer experience that is lighter than a stout or porter.

We start with a majority of Munich malt to establish the rich, bready, caramel base and then use specialty malts to add some nuttiness and light notes of chocolate. Paired with German noble hops and fermented with German yeast, it’s then lagered for several weeks before being ready to serve.

So, stop in and raise a glass of one of our favorite Old World styles with us; who knows, maybe this will inspire the 7 Balls crew to make the trip to experience Oktoberfest where it started!
(Wearing lederhosen isn’t required, but is absolutely encouraged! 🤣)

This Sunday, we’re honored to be hosting an employee appreciation evening for our friends from Branch & Blade Brewing, in Keene, NH!

We’ll be closing an hour early, with last call at 3:30 so we can get set up.
