On October 4 I will have owned the diner for 4 years....the previous owner asked me today if there has been a time I wish I didn't do it. I can honestly say I dont have any regrets, it's been a wild ride and I'm still hanging on! I would be lying though if I didnt say the rising cost of rent, utilities, minimum wage, and virtually eveything else concerns me. Little mom and pop places are having a hard time surviving in this economy. My heart goes out to those who have poured their heart and soul into theirs, and have had to make the decision to close! I can imagine what it took to get to that decision!
Thank you to this community for welcoming me, for trusting me, for supporting me....your graciousness and friendships have made every day of this journey worth it, and on the hard days it reminds me of my "why"! Thank you!
Now...go check on your small business friends...they might not be okay. In a world of chain restaurants and drive thrus choosing the independent ones may make all the difference! You don't just support me, you support my staff, and help them pay their bills and feed their families!
