Kenya is back on our menu and it did not disappoint. This might be one of the most memorable coffees of the year. It’s unlike anything we’ve tasted in a while and we’re very happy to be carrying this coffee. It reminds us of golden berries, melon, and tropical.

Would highly recommend this Kenyan if you’ve been looking to pick one up!

We have new coffees dropping this weekend. One being an origin we haven’t had in years, but are very excited to have it back on our menu. It is one of the most unique flavor profiles we’ve had in a while and we love it.

For pour over coffee, are smaller doses better? We explored some of the benefits of lowering your dose for consistency, speed, cost, and lowering waste.

Skill is a major factor of consistency in brewing, but we can also achieve consistency by doing less. A smaller dose means we spend less time pouring water, shorter brew time, and less room for mistakes. Skills is still necessary, but by minimizing our interaction with coffee we limit the potential of making mistakes.

Smaller doses in pour overs comes with many other benefits too. You bring down the cost in a cafe, make serving coffee faster, and if there is waste, you lower the overall loss.

This coffee is absolutely lovely. Fruit forward, complex, transforms all the way until it cools, and clean. We love coffees that can have nuance, fruit, and be clean, and that’s exactly what Albeiro’s chiroso offers.
It reminds us of gooseberry, peach, and orange.

For those who want to consistently drink coffee at its peak.

Vacuum sealing and freezing coffee dramatically slows down its aging. Freezing is almost like a time capsule for food. It stops food from going bad and preserves its current state very well.
Pair that with vacuum sealing, and now you’re protecting the coffee from oxygen which is the primary cause of coffee going stale over time.
Storage in general is a huge component to preserving coffee flavor and this allows you to do it for a very long time.

So why not just drink all your coffee at its peak and forget about going through all the hassle? It saves you from the risk of running out of ready-to-brew coffee.
If you’re drinking a decent amount of coffee at home, and trying to rest coffee to its peak, this method of storing helps you build a reserve that is always available. At peak flavor.

Extra? Maybe.
But so is obsessing over brewing parameters, water minerals, burrs, and TDS readings.

Ultra light roasted coffee require a different approach. For a long time, typical pour over brewing practices were hotter temps and finer grind size. That might not yield the best results for ultra light roasts.

Jacob from gets best results when dropping the temperature, grinding coarser, and increasing pulses, flow rate, and agitations.

Next time you have an ultra light roasted coffee in front of you, give this a try if you haven’t already. You might find yourself enjoying your brews a little more.

Our first coffee from Linarco Rodriguez, a third-generation farmer that placed 2nd in the CoE in 2019. It’s an absolute stunner. Mouthwatering, fruity, berries, and this pleasant tart sweetness that reminds us of cranberry.

We weren’t planning on dropping a follow up gesha to the Wilder Lazo, but we couldn’t resist with this one.
For your own good, you need to order this.

In coffee, you’re probably hearing more and more about ultra light roasts. It’s gaining popularity and there’s a lot to talk about.
To learn more about it, we invited Jacob from on the podcast to talk about it. Airworks is a coffee subscription service, sourcing ultra light roasts from roasters around the world.

Ultra light roasts focus on minimizing roast and accentuated clarity and florality. Although attaching an agtron number doesn’t do the topic justice, it’s oftentimes coffees roasted lighter than your typical light roasts. That’s where the name comes from”ultra light” comes into play.
