Around Ellis Farm, military appreciation isn’t just for one weekend. 🇺🇸

With family members who served in both the Marine Corps and the Army, honoring and supporting those who serve has always meant a little more around here.

We’ve added a small collection of patriotic gifts, tumblers, mugs, and keepsakes to the store as a quiet way to say thank you to the men and women who have served — and to the families who stand beside them every day.

Sometimes the little things still matter:
a flag,
a cup of coffee,

Well… the fish still weren’t biting yesterday. 😂🎣

But honestly, maybe the quiet was the point.

Came home, fried up some Griffith Family Farm KS chicken, made mashed potatoes, sweet corn, and homemade milk gravy… and called that a pretty good evening in Kansas.

Currently still avoiding black pepper because apparently being allergic and living alone is a bad combination. 🤦‍♀️😂

Sometimes slowing down for a minute, standing in a quiet kitchen, and making comfort food is exactly what a person needs.

Anyway… we’re back open and ready for the week at Ellis Farm Store today. ❤️

Yep… I took Tuesday off. 😎🎣

The fish have been warned, the phone is ignored, and Ellis Farm Store is officially closed today while I attempt to become a professional lake woman. 😂

Hopefully I come back with:
✔ A tan
✔ Less stress
✔ A fish story nobody can verify

From the Porch at Ellis Farm 🇺🇸

This Memorial Weekend, we pause to remember the stories, sacrifices, and families that helped shape the lives and communities we know today.

On display in our store is a beautiful handmade quilt created in 1928 by the mother of Lindel and Joe Golden — a piece of Belle Plaine history stitched together with love, patience, and hard work.

Beside it sits a photo of Joe and her mother-in-law, a reminder that behind every family heirloom is a story worth remembering.

This weekend also holds special meaning as we honor Lindel, who proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for many years.

At Ellis Farm, we believe the porch has always been a place where stories are shared, memories are passed down, and gratitude is quietly carried from one generation to the next. 🤍

Wishing everyone a peaceful and meaningful Memorial Weekend as we remember and honor those who served and sacrificed for our country.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer — it’s a time to remember and honor the men and women who gave everything for this country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.
