We know fondant has a bit of a reputation, but our marshmallow fondant would like a word. 😂

We make ours with marshmallows, giving it a sweet flavor while still letting us create those smooth finishes, intricate decorations, and sculpted details.

Oct 14th is National Dessert Day!

The term “dessert” originates from the French word desservir, which translates to the action “to clear the table.” This is because dessert is served after a main meal’s dishes have been cleared. However, the sweetness of dessert has existed long before there was a proper title for it. As an act of worship, ancient civilizations would offer dried fruits and honey to their gods. In Ancient Greece, a special sweet bread was made with nuts and honey to make an almost cake-like dish called plakous. It is believed the Ancient Greeks may have also invented pie, as Aristophanes mentions sweetmeats and pastries filled with fruit in his plays.

Sometimes the best way to celebrate a successful project is to laugh about everything it took to get there. 😂

A corporate client recently reached out after their team wrapped up a particularly challenging project involving a customer in California.

The project was a success, but apparently getting there was… an adventure.

They wanted to surprise the team with something that recognized both their hard work and their sense of humor.

Enter California-shaped cookies featuring a dumpster fire. 🔥

We love orders like this. They’re a reminder that custom desserts don’t always have to be serious, even when the accomplishments behind them are.

Congratulations to the team! Here’s hoping the next project involves a few fewer fires. 😂

A little history behind one of our favorite bakery walls!

Sprinkles have actually been around much longer than you might think.

The tiny round ones, called nonpareils, have a history tracing back to 17th-century France. Their name means ‘without equal’ which is pretty fitting for something so small that can add so much to a dessert.

By the 1700s, nonpareils were being used to decorate cakes in America, including wedding cakes. And by the 1800s, bakers were using different colors to dress up their creations.

Today, we’ve got everything from traditional rainbow sprinkles to tiny pearls, metallic finishes, seasonal shapes, and just about every color imaginable.

A few hundred years of sprinkle history, and somehow we’ve ended up with an entire wall of them here at Simply Decadent!

Simply Decadent’s version of Photo Hunt is back.

These two dessert photos look almost identical… but we made a few changes.

Some are pretty easy. A couple are sneaky. And at least one might have you staring at cupcakes much longer than you planned (but there are worse things to stare at)!😂

How many differences can you find?
