🍷 SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT: La Storia Merlot

We're continuing our journey into richer, cozier reds this fall with this week's Saturday Spotlight: La Storia Merlot from Trentadue W**ery in Sonoma County, California!

La Storia means "the story" in Italian, a fitting name for a w**e from a family with deep roots in California w**emaking. The Trentadue family has been growing grapes in Sonoma County for generations, and their La Storia collection showcases some of the best fruit from their estate vineyards in Alexander Valley.

Merlot sometimes gets overlooked in favor of Cabernet Sauvignon, but we think it deserves a little more love! Known for its plush texture and softer tannins, Merlot can deliver all the richness and complexity of a bold red without being quite so intense.

La Storia is a beautiful example, with notes of ripe black cherry, plum, cocoa, and warm baking spices. It's rich, velvety, and beautifully balanced, making it a wonderful choice as we settle into fall. Pair it with roasted meats, earthy mushrooms, or a good aged cheese.

If you grew up watching *Matilda*, you know EXACTLY which chocolate cake we're talking about.

Our Matilda Cake is a little nod to one of our favorite 90s movies. Two layers of rich, dark chocolate cake, dulce de leche caramel, and cinnamon espresso buttercream.

Decadent, a little nostalgic, and absolutely worth being sent to the Chokey for.

And unlike poor Bruce, you don't have to eat the whole thing. (But we won't judge if you do.) 🍰

And for our gluten-free friends, we've got you covered too! We also have gluten-free Matilda cupcakes, so nobody has to miss out on a little chocolate indulgence!

An ode to the Italian Mort 🇮🇹

Let's talk about one of our favorite sandwiches on the menu.

Tempesta mortadella, L***y Monk mustard, peppery arugula, marinated peppers, pistachio gremolata, house-made ricotta, and melted provolone, all on toasted white bread.

It's rich, salty, a little tangy, and has just enough acidity to balance out all that goodness.

A whole lot of really good ingredients making one hell of a sandwich.
