It is so hard to put into words what we are feeling right now. Grits & Grace has always been so much more than a restaurant— it has truly been an extension of our family.
First and foremost, we want to thank the first responders for their quick call to action and for putting the fire out as quickly and safely as they did. Because of their courage, bravery, and professionalism, our building is still standing. We are incredibly grateful for everything they did to protect not only our restaurant but the surrounding community.
Our little restaurant has been a place where we’ve built real relationships with people from so many different places. It’s where our daughter grew up. It’s where we’ve watched young employees walk in as kids and grow into thriving young adults. So many memories, milestones, and moments of life have been shared within those walls.
The outpouring of love has been overwhelming. To our friends, employees, neighbors, and community members who came out in the middle of the night to stand beside us while we watched the horrific events unfold — your presence meant more to us than words could ever express. The love, support, and prayers we felt in that moment will stay with us forever.
Right now, we don’t have many answers or a clear timeline. But what we do have is an immense amount of gratitude for the beautiful memories created inside that building and for the incredible community that has always filled it with life.
One thing we know for certain: we will rebuild. No matter how long it takes or how challenging the road ahead may be, we will come back stronger.
Grits & Grace will be back in our home serving smiles and grits again soon.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the love, support, and strength you have shown our family.
