We are being INUNDATED with requests to take dogs. Most of these dogs are in high-risk situations. And yes, most of them don't like other dogs and have no experience with, or don't like, cats. We need ADOPTERS who just want one very-deserving dog! So many of these dogs are amazing as a solo dog.
We have vetted as many of them as we can upfront to help, but people are begging, threatening emotional blackmail, and overall making us feel like s**t for not taking every dog. It's nothing new. We've heard it all in 25yrs of operation. But it IS escalating to a new level.
A.S.K. isn't a traditional dog rescue and we never aimed to be! If you aren't sure what we do, go to our website. We are consumed with helping guardians change their caretaking philosophies so that traditional rescue is never needed. We help over 500 dogs who live outside towards their journey inside.
But no one cares about what we actually DO do. Instead they just want us to take their dog NOW. We are grateful that people entrust us with their dog but with slow adoptions and few fosters, we don't have a place to actually put these dogs, plus work with them (we aren't going to just take dogs and stick them in crates).
