september is a big one at Pluto’s.

we’re kicking things off with Buck-a-Shuck, then we’ve got Wine Down Wednesday with DJ Chef, a Tempranillo bar takeover, our South African wine dinner with Crystallum + Gabrielskloof, and an extra Pasta Class added to the calendar this month.

we’re especially excited for winemaker Peter-Allan Finlayson joining us to pour and talk through the beautiful terroir driven Crystallum and Gabrielskloof wines at our 9/23 wine + dinner.

lots happening, so save the dates and grab your spots.

there’s a great story behind this bottle (and it’s a wine club sneak peek).

Crystallum was started in 2007 by brothers Peter-Allan and Andrew Finlayson, sons of South African winemaking pioneer Peter Finlayson. their family has been making wine in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley for generations, and that connection to this place is a big part of what makes Crystallum so special.

today, Peter-Allan is at the helm, making Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a pretty hands-off approach that lets the vineyards speak for themselves.

Clay Shales comes from a single vineyard on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, planted in those ancient clay and shale soils and cooled by the nearby Atlantic. the 2023 is all about texture and balance — citrus, pear, stone fruit, a little nutty richness, plenty of acidity, and this beautiful mineral, savory finish.

and we’re getting to sit down with Crystallum for a wine dinner at Pluto’s in September.

date coming soon. stay tuned.

Buketo comes from a small group of farmers and winemakers working the slopes of Mount Pangeon in northern Greece. they select the grapes each year with the goal of creating the perfect “bouquet” — which is where the name Buketo comes from.

60% Agiorgitiko, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Merlot. Agiorgitiko brings strawberry and raspberry, Cabernet adds blackberry and a little basil, and Merlot fills it out with dark cherry and chocolate.

a really fun bottle from a part of Greece we don’t get to see enough of.
