I can’t believe almost two years have gone by since my husband Khalil’s passing. It has been a journey to get Khalil’s restaurant leased out and updated, but I’m so glad my son Samir talked me into doing that instead of selling it. We miss him everyday, as he was such a large part of our lives, but we are so thankful for the time we had with Khalil, and keeping his entrepreneurial spirit alive in his restaurant space felt like the right thing to do. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Memorial Bench for him, and to John at Dockside BTX, for welcoming us to put it in front of the restaurant. It’s finally going to be installed in front of the Dockside BTX restaurant (former Cedar’s Grill location), before Jan 11th this new year, in Memory of Khalil. Come and take a sit as you remember times you’ve shared at Cedar’s Grill over the years - I know many of you have had cherished celebrations there. And Thank you to David Conti for your kindness in helping us assemble the bench and install it for us, you’ve been a true friend. Please everyone, take a moment to share your memories of Khalil on our legacy page in his memory. Yours Truly, Tracey Younes

Khalil Younes passed away on January 11, 2024 in Bastrop, Texas. Funeral Home Services for Khalil are being provided by Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. The obituary was featured in Austin American-Statesman on July 31, 2025.

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully passed all of our inspections!!

While we do not yet have a definitive opening date, we are diligently preparing everything for service. We are now accepting immediate applications. We will also be accepting in-person applications on Thursday, November 13th, and Friday, November 14th, between 1 PM and 4 PM.

Program runs February through May and begins Feb. 4th (6-9 yrs) and 19th (10-13yrs):

Update 05Dec24, from Dockside BTX, the new restaurant going into Cedar’s former location

Good morning Bastrop!

We are thrilled to share our journey as we were projected to open before the year ends. Unforunately, we also want to be transparent about the challenges we're currently facing.

Permits and regulations have changed overtime since the previous restaurants have been tenant. We were not aware of these issues up until just a few days ago, and are doing our best to expedite the process, to ensure compliance with the city. We are also having some construction delays as well, as we work with our contractors to adjust timelines, while ensuring that we maintain the quality and standards needed.

We appreciate the overwhelming support from the locals here in Bastrop so far! Please bare with us as we navigate through these challenges and move closer to our opening day. Make sure to follow us here, as we promise to keep you updated!

I cannot remember, who referred me to Brandon Whatley to do my custom furniture piece, in order to bring home the wine rack from Cedar’s Grill that we had custom made for us back in 2007, and have a new base rebuilt so it could be put in my own home. But I just got it delivered yesterday, and Brandon finished putting in all the hardware today, and it looks so amazing. He did an incredible job. And I just want to thank everybody for their suggestions of people to call, to help me see this project through. It was a very meaningful one for me.❤️ I highly recommend Brandon for Any custom woodwork you may need done, or customized, awards and plaques, shelving, furniture, etc. I got to see his workshop, and it’s amazing. Just message me if you’d like his phone number, as I don’t want to post it outright here on Facebook. I do have Brandon’s permission to post this picture and to post my recommendation of his custom services.
