“This school is helping children preserve a fading Indigenous culture.”
This is the part of Coffee Balam that means the most to us.
Near Matambu, in Costa Rica, there is a small school doing incredibly important work: helping preserve the Chorotega language, traditions, stories, and customs.
This culture is fading, and this school is one of the few places actively working to keep it alive for the next generation.
The children you see here are not just learning history — they are being connected to who they are, where they come from, and what could be lost if no one helps preserve it.
The building needs repairs. The school needs resources. The work needs support.
Through Coffee Balam, 5% of our coffee profits go directly toward helping this preservation effort. But if you feel moved to help beyond purchasing coffee, you can also make a direct contribution by sending us a DM.
This is about more than coffee.
It’s about language. Identity. Culture. Memory. And making sure future generations still have something sacred to hold onto.
If this touches your heart, please share it — or message us directly to help.
