Perla’s was founded in the Spring of 2009 by chefs Larry McGuire and Tom Moorman Jr. with the goal of establishing a great oyster bar & seafood joint on beloved South Congress Avenue. The bar makes delicious coastal cocktails and the w**e list is stocked with fun sparkling, rosé & white w**es. Perla’s has Austin’s prettiest oak-shaded patio and a comfortable airy dining room featuring a huge saltwater fishtank, poured concrete oyster bar and open kitchen. Perla’s offers lunch and dinner daily, brunch Saturday and Sunday, and happy hour Monday through Friday.

On Sunday, September 6th, a fire broke out in the kitchen at Perla’s and was quickly contained thanks to the swift response of the Austin Fire Department and our Perla’s management team. Most importantly, no guests or team members were hurt, and everyone is safe.

Perla’s will be temporarily closed while we get everything cleaned up and ready to welcome you back. Stay tuned for reopening details.

Thank you so much to our Austin community for all the love and support. We’ll see you soon, back on South Congress under the old oak tree.

Seventeen years in and still bringing the boil!

Perla’s Annual Crawfish Boil had it all: incredible weather, perfectly seasoned crawfish, cold drinks, and a whole lot of good company under the old oak tree. A full-on burst of zydeco from lit the place up, with DJ keeping the energy high all afternoon. Huge thanks to our friends at for pulling it all together.
