Sunday Reflection 🌿

Sometimes we expect perfection from others while wearing ourselves out trying to be perfect, too. We want to get everything right and keep everyone happy. But we are human, and we all need grace.

This week’s Bible reading in 1 and 2 John and Jude reminded me to walk in love and truth, use discernment, and trust God to keep me as I grow.

For me, that growth includes listening before reacting. When I feel misunderstood, my first instinct is to defend myself. I’m learning to pause, consider what I need to own, and remember that kindness and healthy boundaries can go together. We can apologize, speak respectfully, and still be honest about our limits.

“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” Romans 12:18, KJV

Watching this eagle this week and capturing these photos brought Isaiah 40:31 to mind: God renews the strength of those who wait upon Him. I need that renewal when I’m worn down by expectations, including my own.

My prayer this Sunday is for patient hearts, room to grow, and wisdom to do our part while entrusting the rest to God. May we find rest in Him today. ❤️

Sunday Reflection:
When Love Is Hard

Last Sunday, my son and his fiancée were baptized in Harding Lake. Watching them take that step of faith meant so much to me. I’m praying for them as they now prepare for their November 11 wedding.

This week had hard moments too. We lost one of our chickens, and a couple of situations tested my patience. I lost my temper out frustration and I wish I had responded differently, and I’m asking God to help me do better. It’s just so hard sometimes!!

One of those moments Doug reminded me about Jesus washing His disciples’ feet. He knew Judas would betray Him, yet He still chose to serve. That is hard for me to sit with when I’m frustrated. Jesus said we would be known as His disciples by our love for one another (John 13:35). I need His help to live that out on ordinary, difficult days.

I’ve also been thinking about voting. It’s a right and a privilege, and I want to make that choice prayerfully. The Bible calls us to pray for those in authority and to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God (1 Timothy 2:1–2; Micah 6:8). I want to hold to my convictions and still treat people with kindness.

Lord, thank You for the joy of new beginnings. Comfort us in our sadness, forgive me when I fall short, and teach me to love as You do. Amen.
