Sunday Reflection ❤️
Some weeks remind you just how much life can happen all at once. This past week, Sherry and Shayla have both been out dealing with family medical emergencies and will be out for at least another week. Shayla’s husband, Cliff, had to be urgently flown from Deadhorse to Anchorage. Thankfully, everyone is doing very well considering everything they’ve been through.
It’s been one of those weeks where we’ve been stretched a little thinner than usual. People have stepped in, covered shifts, taken on jobs that weren’t necessarily theirs, and simply noticed what needed to be done and did it.
We’ve been tired. We’ve been worried. We’ve probably been a little aggravated a time or two. 😂 But we’ve also laughed, prayed, worked together and kept our little Roadhouse going. And somewhere in the middle of all that, God gave us some pretty neat things to be thankful for.
We participated in our first Poker Run sponsored by Delta Powersports, and what a fun addition to our week that turned out to be! We got to see old familiar faces and meet some new ones, share some laughs, and once again be reminded how much we enjoy being part of this community. Sometimes a blessing is simply people walking through your door. ❤️
We also connected with another local business willing to make deliveries for our customers with at least one hour’s notice. One local business helping another local business serve our community - that’s the kind of thing we love about living out here.
It got me thinking about that old hymn: “Count your blessings, name them one by one.” Maybe there’s a reason it says to name them. Because when life gets busy, hard or downright exhausting, it’s easy to count the problems and forget to count the blessings.
So this week, we’re naming ours.
Our coworkers who step up when someone needs them.
Our customers who continue show patience and kindness. Old faces and new faces coming through our doors. A community that supports one another.
One local business helping another. Good reports in the middle of scary medical situations. Laughter on long days.
Prayers being answered — sometimes in ways we didn’t expect. And enough strength from God to get up and do it all again tomorrow.
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

It doesn’t say everything that happens will be good. It reminds us that in everything, we can still find something to thank God for.
Maybe an attitude of gratitude isn’t pretending life is perfect.
Maybe it’s simply refusing to let the hard things make us forget the good things.
So on this Sunday, our day of rest, that’s what Doug and I are going to do.
Count our blessings. Name them one by one. And thank God for every single one. ❤️
