It is with truly heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of a very dear Villa friend.
He was more than a familiar face. He was family to so many of our regulars and staff. His warmth, kindness, and friendship filled our space with joy for years. Even after Villa Europa closed, he continued to visit us, reminding us that the connections built here were always about more than just a meal.
He came for a quick weekend visit just before he was to undergo surgery and begin cancer treatments to spend time with Anneliese. None of us expected that visit to be the last. Not even him. He said, “I’ll call you after surgery.”
We are deeply saddened by this unexpected loss. Our hearts are with his loved ones in Puerto Rico and the many friends who cherished him in Florida and here in Augusta.
Please keep his family and all who loved him in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time. He will be missed more than words can say, but his memory will forever remain part of the Villa family.
If you knew Jorge or remember him from the bar and have pictures or stories to share, we would love for you to post your memories in the comments as we memorialize such a wonderfully kind man.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
