Surgery Update:
The surgeon just came out and gave us an update. After a very long 8.5-hour surgery, we are relieved to share that Greg’s surgery went well.
The surgeon was able to reconnect everything, which is wonderful news. However, once they got in there, they discovered that things were much worse than originally expected. Not only did they have to remove the diseased portion of his colon/large intestine, but they also had to remove a section of his small intestine because it had become intertwined and fused together.
Because of this, Greg is now reconnected in two places instead of one, which means his healing and recovery process will likely be longer and more challenging than we initially anticipated. ( I will keep everyone updated) Despite that, the surgeon feels good about the outcome, and we are hopeful that brighter days are ahead.
Right now, Greg is in recovery, and we are taking things one step at a time. We know so many of you have been praying, checking in, sending messages, and thinking of our family. The love and support you have shown us during this difficult time has meant more than words can express.
As the days continue and we learn more about his recovery, I will continue to keep everyone updated. Please continue to keep Greg in your thoughts and prayers as he begins the next phase of this journey.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
