Tonight, while I’m laying here wide awake, growing our beautiful blessing, I can hear Greg next to me snoring away… and honestly, it made me stop and think about just how much this man has been carrying lately.
Owning a small business is never easy. There are long days, stressful days, days when you wonder how you’re going to get everything done. But when your partner has to take a step back, everything suddenly becomes even more hectic, exhausting, and overwhelming.
And Greg has stepped up in ways I don’t even know if some people realize.
He gets up at 4:00 AM every single day to get to Amelia’s, to prep everything, get the kitchen ready, and make sure we are ready to open our doors for our customers. Then he works all day, handles whatever needs to be handled, and most nights doesn’t make it home until after 10:00 PM.
And even then, he doesn’t just walk through the door and call it a night. He is exhausted. I know he is.
And yet, every single day, he gets up and does it all over again.
And I also want to say something about all of you, our Amelia’s family.
Our customers see him.
You see him behind the counter, in the kitchen, running around making sure orders are right, answering the phone, helping customers, fixing whatever needs fixing, and doing whatever it takes to keep Amelia’s moving.
You see how hard he works, and so many of you have taken the time to tell us that you notice it. You notice when he is there from open until close. You notice when he is exhausted but still smiling and taking care of everyone. You notice the effort he puts into this place.
And Greg, I hope you know that our customers appreciate you too!
Amelia’s has never just been a business to us. It’s our family, our livelihood, and something we have poured our hearts into. And the fact that our customers recognize how much you give to it means more than you probably realize.
I know this season has not been easy for either of us. I know there are days where we are both tired, stressed, overwhelmed, and just trying to take everything one day at a time. But watching you continue to show up for our family, for our business, and for me has made me love and appreciate you in a whole different way.
Greg, I hope you know that I see you.
I see the 4 AM mornings.
I see the late nights.
I see the cleaning.
I see the prep.
I see the stress.
I see how tired you are.
I see how much you sacrifice without ever asking for recognition.
And I am so incredibly proud of you.
Amelia’s Pizza may have our names on it, but there is so much of your heart, sweat, time, and sacrifice poured into this place.
So tonight, I just wanted to say thank you.
Thank you for carrying so much when I haven’t been able to carry my share.
Thank you for working your butt off for our family.
Thank you for never giving up on us or Amelia’s.
Thank you for showing up, even when you’re exhausted.
And thank you for being the husband, dad, partner, and business owner that you are.
We see you. I see you. And Our Amelia’s family sees you. You deserve to be recognized!!
