Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with the founder of Gustos Coffee, Mr. Omar, and learn more about the story, passion, and purpose behind the coffee we proudly serve at Canelita.

We talked about beginnings.
About taking risks.
About building something meaningful.
And about the work that happens long before that first sip.

As a Puerto Rican-owned coffee trailer, being able to serve coffee roasted in Puerto Rico is something we don’t take lightly. 🤍

Every cup carries a story.
And this one starts on our island. 🇵🇷☕

Si me conocen, saben que yo siempre tengo preguntas 😭☕

Y cuando tuve la oportunidad de conversar con Yehemi, no le pregunté sobre recetas ni sobre cómo algo se vuelve viral.

Le pregunté sobre el equipo, sobre el hate, sobre la presión, sobre cómo manejar todo cuando el negocio empieza a crecer.

Porque al final del día, esas son las conversaciones que más me interesan: las que te enseñan, las que te hacen pensar, las que te recuerdan que detrás de cada negocio hay una historia que casi nunca vemos completa. Me encantó escuchar la perspectiva de Yehemi y demas esta decir que salí de esa conversación con varias cosas anotadas mentalmente. Siempre habrá alguien unos pasos más adelante de quien podemos aprender algo.

We asked the people around us one simple question:
“what is Canelita to you?” 🥹

and diablo!… these answers got us emotional REAL quick 😭

because somehow this little Puerto Rican coffee truck in Texas turned into: community, family, inside jokes, cafecito runs, long nights, hugs, support, and memories we didn’t even realize we were creating along the way.
hearing our team, customers, friends, family... and even the kids...talk about Canelita like this honestly means everything.
