Our minds are always on FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT, but we are a small business, so we think it’s important to introduce you to our crew, too! After all, without them, we couldn’t get our famous Georgia-grown fruit into your hands.

Today we’re introducing you to Amanda since she’s the person you hear from most often!

Amanda began working at our weekly Hometown Markets in 2019 at Freedom, East Atlanta Village, Ponce City Market, and filling in at other markets as needed. She joined our crew full-time in the spring of 2024 to help manage our road trip and mail orders as well as our marketing and communications. She’s also our one-woman customer service team, so if you’ve emailed us with a question or needed assistance with your order, you now have a face to put with the name of the person who helped you! If you’ve received one of our mail order packages, she’s made and attached that label. If you’ve read our newsletters, she’s written and sent them. She wears several hats for us and loves that no day is ever the same!

Comment below to say hello to Amanda!

Georgia Peach Road Trip Boxes are 25 Pounds Each!
Please bring a cart or wagon to make carrying items to your car easier. If you need further assistance, let our road crew know and we will be happy to help if able.

Speaking of 25 pounds... some customers are a bit confused when opening the box and seeing some space at the top instead of seeing the peaches filled to the brim. Please know this is intentional! Boxes are packed purposefully at the farm to protect the peaches during transit so they arrive to you in the best possible condition!

Georgia Peach Care Instructions
Once you get your peaches home, we want to ensure you can enjoy them as long as you can! Fresh Georgia peaches are picked firm-ripe in order to transport without bruising, so if you order peaches on the road trip, you may need to give them a couple days to fully ripen.

Below are some peach care tips we encourage you to follow:
🍑 Do not refrigerate firm peaches unless you prefer to eat them firm.

🍑 Soften firm peaches by spreading the peaches a few inches apart on a flat cloth with stems down and tips up for about two days at room temperature. (Pro tip: put a tea towel on a baking sheet so the peaches can be moved around easily.)

🍑 Soft peaches are good for about three days at room temperature or about one week in the refrigerator.

🍑 Slice and freeze soft peaches to maintain peach flavor for months.

What to Do with a Box of Georgia Peaches

The simplest way to enjoy a whole box of peaches is to eat the peaches fresh out of hand, and share this unique summer experience with friends, family, and neighbors.

You can also cook and preserve peaches that you aren’t planning to eat right away. Freestone peaches in particular slice neatly into wedges for canning and freezing.

Here are our tips for freezing peaches:
🍑 Peel peaches by scoring an X along the bottom of your ripe peaches, blanch for 30 seconds, then cool immediately in an ice bath. Peel skins off easily. (This step is a personal preference and is optional!)

🍑 Slice peaches and lay individually on sheet trays, then freeze. (You may also choose to toss slices in lemon juice or other citric acid to preserve the color, but this step is optional and not required.)

🍑 Once fully frozen, store slices in an airtight bag or container.

Never learned to can and don’t have freezer space?
You can still go through a box quicker than you think! Each box has around 50-60 peaches, so you could:
🍑 Eat 10-12
🍑 Use 6-8 in a cobbler
🍑 Slice 4-5 for sangria or peach cocktails
🍑 Chopping 6-8 for a jam or chutney
🍑 Throwing 6-8 on the grill
🍑 Slicing 4-5 on your cereal or yogurt

What Kind of Peaches Do We Have?
Our Georgia peaches are grown in Musella, GA at historic Dickey Farms, which is one of the oldest peach farms in the United States.

Peach season kicks off with clingstone varieties, which are great for eating out of hand and for preserving in jellies or jams. By the end of May, we’ll see semi-freestone varieties and then freestone varieties by mid-June. Both the semi-freestone and freestone separate easily from the pit and are great for eating out of hand, slicing, baking, and preserving.

We only offer yellow peaches on our road trip and for our mail order. The specific varieties vary from week to week as they ripen, with boxes sometimes including more than one variety, as well. No matter the variety, they all offer a delicious summertime treat that’s so hard to find anywhere else.
