The attack on Black fatherly authority is not only external — it has become internal. Through division, pride, trauma, and the destruction of respect between Black men and women, the natural authority of the Black father has been weakened. But if we are to restore order, respect, protection, and leadership within our homes and communities, we must first confront the greatest enemy within — the ego. The ego destroys communication, accountability, humility, and brotherhood. True authority is not built on domination, but discipline, wisdom, responsibility, and self-mastery. Before we can rebuild the family, we must first overcome ourselves.
