For Myles, this simple accommodation looks like writing one specific task on a single notecard.

How it started: Myles would complete 2-3 cards, then check in with a supervisor.
How it’s going: Today, he tackles an entire stack completely on his own!

We’re paying homage to MEND’s origin story this summer with our new “S’mores Latte”. Because, believe it or not, MEND started with a summer camp!

Hope Heals Camp is a summer camp that’s offered rest, resources, and relationships to thousands of families experiencing disabilities since 2017. We found so much goodness in those weeks of inter-ability community camp that we wanted to make a year-round, brick-and-mortar version...and that became MEND!

“Disability invites us into patience. When your body or brain moves at a different pace than much of the world, it’s easy to feel left behind. At MEND, we choose to slow down and match the unique pace of our teammates and customers with disabilities. That slowness allows for more presence, more warmth, more patience. Hear us out. Trying all of our new summer drinks is the perfect way to kick off your summer bucket list. We’ve been working on some delicious drinks and we think you’re going to love them! They are now available at MEND.

✷ Peach Matcha Latte – peach puree, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla syrup
✷ S’mores Latte – marshmallow syrup, brown sugar, mocha, topped with whipped cream and graham cracker crumble (an ode to our first sacred space HOPE HEALS CAMP)

We’re making a little version of the world where people with disabilities are considered first instead of treated as an afterthought. The details and differences are subtle, but they add up to a majorly accessible experience..

space for people with disabilities to feel welcomed in the world. This starts with making sure everyone can get through our doors and take a seat at our table! MEND is set up so that wheelchair users can navigate wider-than-usual aisles, spacious bathrooms, and counter cut-outs.
