We are incredibly honored and humbled to receive the 2026 Main Street Alabama Award of Excellence for Building Design! ❤️

Turning an old church into the home of BawBaw’s BBQ took a lot of hard work, faith, and love. We wanted to preserve the heart of this special building while creating a warm, welcoming place where families and friends could gather—and we are so proud of what it has become.

Thank you to Main Street Alabama for recognizing the work and dedication that went into bringing this building back to life. A very special thank-you to Brad Mallette and Tere Richardson for believing in us and putting BawBaw’s name in the ring for this honor. Your support means more to us than we can say.

We are deeply grateful to our family, friends, customers, and community who have supported us throughout this journey. This award belongs to everyone who helped turn our dream into a reality. We are proud to call Athens home and proud that this old church has been given a new life as BawBaw’s BBQ.
