Well, Athens. You did it again. Another non-stop day for our staff and a packed restaurant from open to close. We can’t express to you how much this has meant to us the last couple of days. The amount of business volume we have received has us very low on some main products. We will be opening at 11 tomorrow, BUT it will mostly be for buffet. Pickup orders will be limited because of pizza box inventory. We promise we are trying everything possible to get you your favorites, so please be patient as we give you one last day. It is definitely starting to settle that this is all coming to an end and we hope to have a great day with all of you.

As we prepare to say goodbye, we’re overwhelmed by the love and support this community has shown us. Seeing so many familiar faces come through our doors one last time has been both heartwarming and bittersweet.

With that love has come more business than we’ve ever experienced. Our dining room is full, our phones are constantly ringing, and our kitchen is working nonstop. We know the wait times have been longer than anyone would like, and for that, we are truly sorry.

But today, we’d like to ask one thing from our community: Please be kind to our team.

Behind every pizza is a person who is doing everything they can. Our employees have worked long days, skipped breaks, stayed late, old team members are coming in when they can, and all are pouring their hearts into making these final days special. They’re exhausted, but they continue to show up with smiles because they know how much this place means to so many people.

Your patience, your understanding, and even a few kind words can make all the difference. As we close this chapter, we hope to remember these final days not for the stress, but for the compassion, grace, and love that this community has always been known for.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives for so many years. Thank you for every meal shared, every celebration, every memory, and for standing by us until the very end.

We’ll always be grateful.

Wow!!!! Athens y’all showed up for lunch today. We saw so many Mazzio’s & Ken’s regulars and employees. Thank you all for being so patient and understanding during the chaos, especially for having technical problems right at opening. We even had customers and vendors help with tables and dishes and past employees jumping in to help where they could. We are still working on getting cleaned and caught up from lunch and promise we are trying to get better prepared for dinner and the rest of the week. Please stay patient with us. And as always, thank you!!!!!

To our amazing customers…

We have heard there was some buzzing around town today, and we wanted to make sure you heard it from us directly. Ken’s Pizza will be closing Friday, July 3rd. Ken’s Pizza has been a part of Athens since 1973. It has been a place that traditional meals were had for families and generations. You enjoyed a game of PacMan, played your favorite song on the jukebox, spent time with friends after a good Friday night game, had a birthday or team party, came for a field trip, had your first job, and made a career serving the community the best salad and pizza in town. Some of you gave us a chance after our sister store closed and loved us even more, and some customers made our staff a part of their families and included us in all their celebrations. This Pizza Parlor holds a lot of memories for a lot of Athenians, but especially our staff. Please keep all of our team members in your prayers as they are figuring out their next moves for an even better chapter. Our team members, old and new, are heartbroken. It is simply an end of an era. We hope you all come this week to enjoy all of your Ken’s favorites, share your memories, and say goodbye. The Pizza Queen will be coming out of “retirement” for a Friday morning shift and we are sure to see Marco at some point too!
