Reminder that Ashland Independent Schools return to session tomorrow, August 17. Please pay attention for students near roadways and on sidewalks.

This time every year, traffic becomes congested, stopped or backed up due to new parents, new students and traffic related changes on school properties.

Just remember if you travel these school zone routes you may wish to travel an alternate route to avoid these issues over the next few days or months.

We will be patrolling so make sure you observe all speed limits, school zone rules and traffic control devices (lights and signs) to make it a safe are for our kids as they return.

Please use caution and drive safely.

It's that time of the year - but no matter how tempting it is - LEAVE YOUNG WILDLIFE ALONE!! It’s illegal and harmful to take them from their mothers!

While you may believe you are helping an animal by “rescuing” it, you may be doing more harm than good. White-tailed deer, rabbits, and other species of wildlife leave their young for extended periods of time each day, only to return to take care of them.

If you discover a young mammal or bird, you should not handle it and should keep children and pets away from it. Staying away from the young animal reduces stress on the animal and increases the likelihood that the mother will return to care for it.

Unless the wildlife is obtained from a legal source and a Captive Wildlife Permit is obtained in advance, 301 KAR 2:081 prohibits holding native wildlife as a pet.

Test Drive a Fishing License June 5-6, 2021
Try your hand at fishing in Kentucky at no charge during free fishing weekend, held annually during the first full weekend in June.

It's a great time to grab a fishing pole and enjoy spending time with family and friends at the state's beautiful lakes, streams and rivers.

It doesn't matter whether you're visiting from outside the state or you live in Kentucky. Free fishing weekend is open to all. You won't need a fishing license or a trout permit. Just make sure you still follow the size and number limits on what you catch.
