We have a divine, silky washed Ethiopian coffee on espresso for you this week: Wanja Kersa.
This coffee is the result of years of conscious preparation from some dedicated Ethiopian coffee producers: Fikru Demissie and Mike Mamo. It comes to us from a collection of local farmers in Western Ethiopia, where coffee plants grow native and wild in peoples’ yards and forests.
Mamo and Demissie have recently opened their second washing station, complete with new equipment (an eco-pulper) that has them, and us, very pleased with the clean flavors they are getting! Many thanks to for sourcing this coffee and getting it to our roastery. .

Atoma is a privately owned washing station located in Western Ethiopia, owned and operated by Mike Mamo. It is the second site
that he owns in the Gera Woreda, the first being Telila, located in the Kecho Anderacha Kebele. Atoma i s al so sometimes referred to as Telila site two.
The Atoma Station completed its first full season of operation during the 2022/2023 season. Despite its age, Atoma benefits from
the expertise and knowledge of Fikru Demissie, who oversees quality control. In addition to his roles at Atoma and Telila, Fikru has served as head of coffee and quality control for Addis Exporter, Atoma's sister company , for the past 20 years.
Through vertical integration, Addis Exporter also acts as the dry miller and exporter for Atoma and Telila lots. During its first year in operation, Atoma only produced naturally processed coffee. It was thrilling to taste the excellent washed coffee produced at Atoma this year. The eco-pulper installed at Atoma, in conjunction with the expert knowledge of Fikru, produced truly stellar and beautifully clean coffees!
