Hey Viv Fam. I know it’s been way too long since y’all heard from us. Much love to everyone who has reached out to help and check in on the team. Unfortunately, this long delayed post doesn’t come with good news….It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that Vivian will be permanently closing its doors 😔.

The financial damages that Hurricane Helene has caused to our small lil biz have been detrimental. We truly appreciate everyone who donated to the gofundme to support the staff, but unfortunately that was just a bandaid on a much bigger wound. And not only are we financially exhausted, but we’re also just emotionally decimated. We’ve run so many scenarios, but we just can’t make it work this time y’all.

I cannot stress enough how grateful we are to have had such incredible humans grace our restaurant over the years—guests and employees. Vivian would be nothing without the incredible community y’all have built. We’re grateful for all the wonderful memories we’ve made together and even tho this is wildly depressing, I’m grateful to be able to take those memories with me. And to the staff, yall know this but I am eternally grateful for everything you have done for us. Hope to see everyone again during a happier time 💜.

Hey y’all. Sorry it’s been radio silent over here. I won’t lie, it’s been rough since the hurricane. From this day where I drove my flooded car off depot street and left soaked in god knows what…to fighting business insurance….to replacing a roof…it’s been a lot yall. Thanks to everyone who donated to the go fund me—yall saved our staff’s lives, seriously. I’m so happy we’ve met our goal. Trying to get back rolling at Viv but it seems we keep hitting wall after wall. Felt like we were making strides….and today I wake up with covid 🤒. Ugh 2024 is not the year yall! Keep sending good vibes and hopefully I’ll have good news soon! Hope all our Viv fam are staying safe out there.

Hello Vivian friends and family. As we all know, Hurricane Helene has struck Western North Carolina in irreparable ways. We’re devastated at the destruction of the River Arts District, the neighborhood our restaurant has called home for 7 years, and what our community here and nearby are challenged with. Vivian was insanely lucky not to be flooded, but the weather damage to our roof is extensive. Between our ceiling raining, being out of power, no water systems, no cell or wifi, we are stuck in a state of unknown while we wait to see how and when we can reopen. We’ve depleted most of our savings to pay our team their last paycheck and cover bills. With no timeline for a reopening, our beloved employees will be left without pay for who knows how long. I am happy to report all our employees are safe, but many are dealing with damaged homes, and most are dealing with lack of power and water, on top of being generally depressed and broken like all of us. If you feel like giving, I will be distributing anything we raise equitably amongst the staff to get them through this disaster. Thanks for your time and consideration.

It’s schnitzel season yall! Ready for all the fall flavors to come your way. Don’t miss this bad boi—not your average schnitzel…we’re using the Iberico Secreto pork, imported from Spain from acorn fed pigs, creating a beautiful marbled cut. Panko breaded and fried, served with fingerling potatoes, braised red cabbage & apples, and mushroom gravy. See yall tomorrow!!

It’s y’all! Check out our menu here and come in for one of these tasty bevs. Negroni Week raises funds to support who’s goals are to empower the development of local food and beverage systems, regenerating earth’s precious resources, empowering hospitality workers, and advancing social equality through fair working conditions and inclusivity of all peoples, ethnicities, and genders.
