Prayers for Our Linemen

As winter storms sweep across our communities, we lift our prayers for the linemen who work tirelessly in the harshest conditions. While most of us stay warm indoors, these men and women climb icy poles, battle freezing winds, and risk their safety to keep our lights on and our homes connected.

We pray for their protection, their strength, and their safe return to their families at the end of every long shift. May they be watched over as they work through snow, ice, and darkness—often unseen, yet essential to daily life.

Their dedication keeps hospitals running, families warm, and communities functioning when winter shows its worst. We are deeply grateful for their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to serving others.

May God bless every lineman, give them steady hands, clear judgment, and safe passage through this storm—and may they know how appreciated and valued they truly are.

Be safe ❄️❄️❄️

You may have seen the forecast of wintry weather in Asheville this weekend. Nobody knows exactly what to expect and who will see the worst of it, but conditions can change quickly in the mountains. Snow, ice, and high winds can cause power outages and make travel unsafe.

Before the storm hits, take a few simple and important precautions:

Prepare for possible power outages.
Charge devices.
Have flashlights and batteries ready.
Emergency Car Kit.
Keep extra blankets and warm clothing nearby.

Watch for downed power lines.
Never touch or drive over them.
Always assume they are live.
Report them immediately to Duke Energy or call 911.

Rethink travel plans.
Roads can become dangerous fast.
Avoid travel unless it’s necessary.
Slow down and increase following distance.

Check on others.
Look out for neighbors, older adults, and anyone who may need help.

Be prepared. Stay safe. Stay warm.
