Every time I spot an 18 Chestnuts jar “in the wild,” I have to stop, smile, and usually take a photo. Especially here at Whole Foods Market !

What started in my kitchen with a desire to feel better has become something I get to share with you—and seeing our jars waiting to go home to YOUR kitchen never gets old.

It’s one of the questions we get asked most: Where did the name 18 Chestnuts come from?

For Ilona, 18 represents life and caring for others—which is exactly what she set out to do when she started making nourishing, plant-based soups. ❤️

And Chestnuts? That comes from one of the soups that started it all: our signature Chestnut Maple, made with organic chestnuts, pears, and Ilona’s favorite spice, star anise. 🌰🍐
