The old oak tree

The old oak tree up the street,
Where it has been way before there was a street,
Where it has endured many storms,
Heard many battles,
Housed many life forms,
With its roots resting deep into the soil,
The old oak tree unlike most men,
Holds its own greatness.

It isn’t concerned with what anyone thinks,
It isn’t concerned with impressing us,
It cares not to leave a mark,
It cares not to be remembered,
It needs no praises,
Just sunlight,
Just elements.

It has blossomed many springs,
It has slept through many winters,
It has given and taken
Like a dance between two ghosts
With silent steps
Every morning
It has been at one with the sunrise
It needs no recognition
It needs no name
No religion
No claim of the land
It fights no wars

The old oak tree is free and therefore doesn’t desire freedom
It is grand and therefore doesn’t desire greatness

Who is it that wants to be greater than this oak tree by needing so much?

The old old oak tree up the street,
one of many,
means more to greatness,
than any of the works of man.

Every day many things have to align for the morning to be regrown

It’s hard to imagine a season long constant harvest in such a small area and with such low amount of energetic input.

What’s not hard to imagine is the bear that last night cracked three of my fruit trees 🥲.

This seven year old quince tree has held flower and made fruit for the first time, it still has a long way to go in surviving storms, winds, bears, and deer!!!!

Birdhouses in vacancy, waiting for tenants 🏠

The first picture is from the food forest path, you can see a sea of diversity in the layers of production, and the small one bedroom bird rental.

The second pic highlights a guild of berries, along with the larger three bedroom bird rental.
