Today is Hey Nonny's 8th anniversary, so naturally we had to pop here on to wish ourselves a Happy Birthday! 🎉🎉🎉

For real though, there have been so many wonderful people responsible for making Hey Nonny such a special place over the years and we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Whether you're a regular (some of whom are pictured here), a musician who has performed here, a staff member, someone who has stopped in once, or anything in-between, we extend our gratitude.

I’ve gotta just spit it out: we’re listing Hey Nonny for sale. It hurts to say it, and I’ve had hours of regrets already. But it’s the right thing to do.

For Chris, Patricia and me, running Hey Nonny for these past eight years has been a blast. We’ve learned a lot, heard a lot of great music, and most importantly, connected with a lot of amazingly wonderful people. But the combination of venue, restaurant, and bar business segments is very complicated, and requires lots of time, energy, and creative thinking. We’ve done it. Someone with fresh energy and ideas will do it better.

We’re offering the whole shebang for sale – the business and our commercial condo
space, though if someone wanted to buy the business and rent the space, we’d
consider it. We put a lot of time, money and effort into making our Venue a beautiful room with great sound. Hey Nonny now has a national reputation as a top notch “listening room.” We’re sure that someone will want to continue and grow this fabulous thing.

Our broker (lots of music venue experience) says that the process will take a while.
We’re patient, and we’ve got lots of great shows booked into 2027. Anyone interested can contact Georg Simos ([email protected]). In the meantime, cool stuff in the Lounge starting next week! Our new “Cocktails With . . .” interview series starts Tuesday, October 6, with guest Mayor Jim Tinaglia interviewed by DKM&O Managing Partner Ernie Rose. And then our Social Sessions nightly music series starts Oct. 7 with Rob Anderlik’s roots music. Onward!

Join us for our new series, "Cocktails with..." For the inaugural date on October 6th for Cocktails with Jim Tinaglia, Mayor of Arlington Heights.

Ernie Rose, Managing Partner with Drost Kivlahan McMahon & O’Connor, LLC, will host the evening and will lead open discussions with the mayor and there may be a song or two!

There will be time at the conclusion of the evening for some questions from the audience. This will be a fun night of cocktails and a friendly barroom conversation about life and public affairs!

COFFEE WITH LOGAN! (& Dan)

Dan and Logan reporting live from Riot Fest! We’ve survived the rain so far. Shockingly, since the festival’s first outdoor weekender back in 2012, yesterday and today have only been the second and third rain delays they’ve ever had (to our recollection) Pretty good luck for an event who thrives on snark as much as it does triumph. Our favorite sets so far have been Burning Airlines, The Chats, Rise Against, Tool, and of course, the godfather Iggy Pop. Hoping for clear conditions soon to enjoy Elvis Costello, Jejune, Pennywise, and the actually real totally true debut of William Shatner’s metal band. If you’re seeing this at the fest, make sure to wave to Dan at the Warm B**r tent in the Flea Market and grab some independently made punk rock goods. Logan will be trying not to drown in muck and mud, Leonard Cohen style, in a famous blue raincoat. Happy Riot Fest 2026!

COFFEE WITH KATIE! (on a Monday)

I’m gagging a little that we are halfway through September, fall is in the air, and people are talking about the holiday! How in the world does time continue to tick faster every year? On that note, Hey Nonny is thinking about the holidays as well and announcing most of their December line up and guess what? It’s ALL holiday themed! There will be a few more trickling out over the next few weeks but this week you’ll see like 20 something shows go on sale with the running theme of HOLIDAY! We try to have something for everyone: jazz, blues, pop, cabaret, comedy, americana, maybe even some holiday magic will get thrown into the mix.
It’s one of our favorite times of the year at Hey Nonny. We decorate, get festive and fill our calendar with cheer so families can grab some tickets and enjoy a show together.

As those years fly by, thinking of gifts get harder and harder, and let’s face it, as we get older(!), we don’t really need anything but our kids home, family and friends nearby and time spent with people we love (or at least tolerate more than most). As you think about what to buy or do with those you care about most, I want to throw a show at Hey Nonny into the mix for consideration. It’s a great way to spend time together and not have to worry about entertaining each other.

So, while I really despise thinking about winter before we’ve even truly entered fall, here we are- me asking you to check out our eblast and socials this week for our first round of holiday themed shows. Cheers!

So, we’re in the middle of our Hey Nonny “Always Live Music” makeover. The mission, as you’ll recall, is to focus on our music venue mission by programming yet MORE music, and to institute a BBQ-based menu as a great music accompaniment. Kind of an awkward time for us – because the “more music” aspect doesn’t start until October, while the menu changed in July. So, naturally, we’re now getting the “I liked the old menu” reactions from some patrons. I did too!

But I love the BBQ, and I’m super-excited to launch our new Social Sessions in the
Lounge schedule beginning in October. We’ll kick off with our new “Cocktails With . ...” series – a friendly barroom conversation about life and public affairs with an interesting public figure or musician. On Tuesday, October 6, our first guest will be Arlington Heights Mayor Jim Tinaglia, interviewed by local legal ace, DKMO’s Ernie Rose. In November, we plan to host Father Corey Brost, and in December, State Rep. Nicolle Grasse. On Wednesday, Oct. 7, dobro wizard Rob Anderlik will begin a weekly residency, this time with guest Mike Church. On Thursday, Oct. 8, Chicago R&B/jazz star Nashon Holloway will start her weekly residency.

There’ll be a $5 cover charge for these Lounge events, but if you want to get in free
during the first couple of weeks, we’ll hand out freebies to the first 30 people who DM back here with the date they want to go and their email address for confirmation.
