If it's more than a drizzle, it floods in front of my business. In the past fifty years, I have never flooded from normal or even heavy rainfall. Now it’s a common occurrence. Whiting Turner, the city's contractor for the "flood remediation" project on the City Dock has put sediment control liners in the storm drains outside of their jobsite perimeter to contain their runoff. There is no reason to use these liners offsite as the contractor is responsible for implementing proper sediment control devices onsite. Keep in mind, the huge devices taking up all our parking are specifically for this purpose. Whiting Turner and the former mayor, Gavin Buckley, promised us we would no longer have to worry about being flooded once the work started. They also guaranteed everyone the project would be done in an environmentally responsible manner. These were empty pledges. Both Whiting Turner and the head of Annapolis Public Works, Burr Vogel, are aware of this issue and refuse to correct it. If their goal is to put us all out of business, their methods are working.

I love well prepared scallops and the Annapolis Market House does exactly that. Their Cajun Brown Butter Scallops are coated in Cajun spices and pan seared in olive oil with a lime, brown butter sauce and are served over coconut, lime, and cilantro rice with mango salsa. At the head of the City Dock, the Market House is a place where I go for the food and stay for the vibe. And of course, a meal isn’t complete without dessert. Hint, hint, Storm Bros is just across the street.

The Annapolis City Dock is an excellent place to enjoy dinner and dessert. It's not a secret that Dock Street Bar and Grill is known for amazing crab cakes. Our suggestion? Stop in for a drink, stay for a meal, and remember Storm Bros is only two doors down. 136 and 130 make a great pairing.

If you own an ice cream store you look forward to Spring’s arrival. The warmer weather and increasing daylight hours brings everyone out to enjoy the outdoors. Despite the work going on next to Ego Alley, the City Dock is still a great place to enjoy the shops, restaurants, activities and scenery Annapolis has to offer.
We have another reason to enjoy spring. It’s calving season. Today we had our first arrival of the year, a beautiful dun calf born to Keri. She is a first-time momma and is extremely attentive to her new offspring.
We’re not sure how many ice cream store owners raise cattle, but Sveinn Storm does. We have a small farm near the town of Centreville on the Eastern Shore (Shore Nuff Farm) where we raise Dexter cattle, a breed originating from Ireland. We currently have two breeding bulls and sixteen cows. In the next month and a half, we anticipate the arrival of fifteen more calves. Should you wish to share our spring excitement, let us know. Our animals are very docile and it’s a nice place to visit. Sveinn’s nine grandchildren enjoy farm life, especially driving the tractor and four-wheeler.
We name all our animals with Irish/Gaelic names so feel free to give us suggestions for our new calves. If we use your suggestion, you will get a $20.00 Storm Bros gift card.

People have asked me repeatedly why the press has not covered the city intentionally allowing the flooding on the City Dock. I have taken this to the Capital Gazette many times, complete with photos. In the past three years I have gone to city council meetings probably twenty times. I submitted those same photos and irrefutable evidence to them as well. I went before them again this past Monday. Fast forward to 30:41 of the meeting to see my testimony.
