Raising a glass to the late Irene Butter, Ann Arbor gem and Cardamom regular customer. Her typical order included our Mumbaitini, nicknamed the "Reenie-tini" by her friends as it was her favorite.

Beginning in 1966, Butter taught at the University of Michigan, focusing on health care, midwifery, and women's health. She became Professor Emeritus of Public Health in 1996.

It's International Coffee Day! Coffee was first smuggled to India around 1600 from Arabia and has been grown and consumed there ever since. Overshadowed by tea during the British colonial period, coffee production and consumption has been on the rise in recent decades. Our house coffee comes from Ossoor Estates in Manjarabad, India.

Friends, currently our power and phone are out. Our trusty generator is keeping our walk-in refrigerator going so the food is staying at a safe temperature. However, we don't have enough generator power to be operational currently. We will keep you posted if the situation changes. Stay safe out there.
