Blue LLama is Ann Arbor's premiere Jazz Club and Restaurant, proudly serving our community since 2019. The award winning chef, restaurateur and cookbook author JJ Johnson joined our team as Creative Culinary Director, overseeing the culinary relaunch and future of the restaurant. His new menu brings the spirit and flavors of American jazz meccas like Harlem and New Orleans, along with flavors from Barbados and Puerto Rico through an Afro Caribbean menu, a style of cooking that Chef JJ has become known for.

This Friday, Juneteenth, Joan Belgrave invites you to gather to celebrate black music, Detroit jazz, and the extraordinary life of Marcus Belgrave, the "Yoda of Detroit Jazz", on what would have been his 90th birthday. Joan leads an all-star ensemble featuring trumpeter Lin Rountree, bassist Jaribu Shahid, pianist Nicholas Masters, and drummer Matt Lemons for an evening of music and memory June 19th at 7pm and 9pm.

New York City-based bassist, composer, and educator, Hannah Marks, is one of the most compelling young voices in jazz today.

She has toured internationally with NEA Jazz Master Dee Dee Bridgewater and has performed alongside Terri Lyne Carrington, Geoffrey Keezer, and more, and this Thursday, June 18th, she brings her quartet to our stage for sets at 7pm and 8:30pm, just after the June release of her highly anticipated second album Feed the Fire, produced by Jason Moran.

Friday, June 19th we celebrate Detroit trumpet legend Marcus Belgrave's 90th birthday, with a special concert presented by Joan Belgrave featuring Lin Rountree. Plus Third Coast Swing, Hannah Marks Quartet, Keigo Hirakawa Quartet, and Rossano Sportiello Trio ft. Paul Keller and Ed Metz round out the week.
