Wilma Jeans will not be open today-
I’ve started and deleted this post more times than I’d like to admit. ❤️
Wilma Jean’s has never just been a restaurant to me.
It was an idea, a risk, a whole lot of hard work, some sleepless nights, plenty of lessons, and something I poured a huge piece of myself into.
And before I say anything else, I need to say thank you.
Thank you to every person who walked through our doors.
Thank you to the people who came back again and again, brought their friends, celebrated birthdays with us, attended our crazy events, ordered our food, shared our posts, told someone about us, or stopped in just to say hello.
Thank you to the people who supported us on the packed days—and especially the ones who showed up on the quiet ones.
You may never know how much those little things meant to me.
There have been moments during this journey when I’ve wondered what in the world I got myself into. 😂 There have also been moments when I’ve looked around a room full of people laughing, eating, listening to music and enjoying themselves and thought, THIS is exactly why I did it.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something.
My favorite part of Wilma Jean’s was never simply running a restaurant.
It was creating a place and an experience that brought people together.
The parties. The river events. The special dinners. The celebrations. The catering. The music. The ridiculous ideas that somehow turned into some of our best nights.
Those are the moments I love.
So after a lot of thought, I’ve decided it’s time for Wilma Jean’s to enter its next chapter.
We will be stepping away from regular restaurant hours and putting our focus into Wilma Jean’s Catering & Events.
And I want to be very clear…
This is NOT goodbye.
It’s actually the opposite.
It’s giving me the opportunity to take everything I love about Wilma Jean’s and do MORE of it.
More catering.
More private parties.
More celebrations.
More special dinners.
More community events.
More creativity.
And definitely more of those slightly crazy ideas you all have somehow learned to expect from me. 😂❤️
Our doors will still open for special events, private gatherings and pop-ups, and we’ll be taking Wilma Jean’s food and Southern hospitality on the road through catering.
I’m incredibly proud of what we built.
Was every day perfect? Absolutely not.
Did I learn some things the hard way? You bet I did.
But I wouldn’t trade the people I’ve met, the relationships we’ve built or the memories we’ve made.
So from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Thank you for supporting my dream.
Thank you for supporting a small local business.
Thank you for giving Wilma Jean’s a chance.
And thank you for being part of this chapter.
Now it’s time to turn the page. ❤️
Welcome to Wilma Jean’s Catering & Events.
Same heart.
Same food.
Same Southern hospitality.
A new chapter—and I have a feeling it’s going to be a really good one. 🥂❤️
