Straw For Dogs is an incredible nonprofit and a fantastic partner. It gets us feeling all warm and fuzzy seeing these warm and fuzzy dogs cozying up in brand new homes! 🥰🐕 Thanks for sharing the love to all corners of Alaska. Now onto building more!!

When setting up your new coop, you'll need to decide what kind of bedding layer you want on the floor. 🐔💩 Ideally, you'll find something that meets both your needs and your chickens' needs. Something almost akin to litter: absorbent, easy to maintain, maybe even compostable. These are some of the options we see the most:
🌱 Straw: Great when you can keep it dry (like in the covered coop!), compostable, accessible, insulating
🌲 Wood/pine shavings: Absorbent, easy to clean, compostable, insulating
🏖 Sand: Quick drying, easy to clean, natural inorganic grit

It can take some experimenting to find what works just right for you and your birds. If you've owned chickens for a while, what have you tried? What's worked and what hasn't?

Wow. We are just so honored to be a part of the Artemis II program. Four incredible astronauts will be flying our "Rooster" chicken coop around the moon in a 10-day long mission. Now, quarters are a little cramped, but it's worth it to stress-test our insulated coops in the vacuum of space. 🌌 Our man door provided easy boarding during the launch this afternoon, and the removable roosts make for comfortable and customizable perching for the astronauts onboard. 👨‍🚀🐓 Wish them luck out there!
