Everyone meet Avery! Avery is a sweetheart and loves a sweet drink 😋 Her go to is a strawberry, rose, white peach red bull! Avery loves summer days spent outside, hiking, paddleboarding, playing volleyball, and swimming in a lake. She also enjoys crafting of all kinds, including coloring, making jewelry, and any paper craft. Her goal is to get her degree in kinesiology and doctorate in physical therapy to become a sports physical therapist. Avery's favorite thing about working at Black Cup is the atmosphere and good vibes. Say hello next time you're in! 👋

If you're a weekend regular, then you've met Brendan! Brendan brightens our cafe mornings with his energizing smile! This is his first job in coffee and his favorite drink to make is a shaken espresso (see slide 2😉) His go to drink is our Mellow Monkey special or a strawberry London fog. Brendan is currently in school for civil engineering and concentrating on structural engineering. In his free time, he enjoys line dancing, thrifting, paddleboarding, and hiking Hatcher Pass. His favorite trail this summer was Peak 2 in the Chugach! 🏔️ What Brendan loves about Black Cup is our community and how welcoming it is. Come in this weekend and ask him to make you a shaken espresso! 🤝

Meet Ruby, one of the bright smiles behind our counter! Born and raised in Alaska, Ruby is passionate about music and dreams of becoming an elementary music teacher. She plays the clarinet and is excited to learn piano and cello next! When she’s not making your favorite drinks, you’ll find her out on a nature walk, camping, or enjoying classical and symphony music. Her favorite music artist Olivia Dean! Her go-to order is an iced salted caramel latte. We’re so lucky to have Ruby as part of our coffee community! ☕️

Our new Coffee of the Month is here! This month we bring you a washed Burundi, Rumanda. Founded by Matsitsi Zuberi in 2015, Matsitsi Trading focuses on producing high-quality specialty coffee in Burundi. The company operates three washing stations, two in Kayanza province and one in Muyinga province. These stations invest in processing infrastructure and maintain traceability, while contributing to the local communities and sustainability in the form of wastewater treatment and compost projects from unused coffee pulp. We love this coffee for its clean representation of the Bourbon variety which is known for its clarity, sweetness, and articulate acidity. We’re finding flavors of apricot jam, tamarind, and golden raisin. Come try it as a batch brew or a pour over!

Barista Highlight✨
Another returning familiar face, this is Sky! If you know her, you love her. Sky is going to school for a PhD in physics to become an astrophysicist. She loves to spend time outside hiking on the local trails, painting watercolor, and writing poetry. Sky also considers herself a fortnight pro 🎮 Working at Black Cup, her favorite thing is connecting with our customers (mid-sentence, Sky ran out from behind the bar to give a customer a hug) and how much care we put into our coffee. Her go to drink is an iced London fog with blueberry and white chocolate. Say hey next time you're in! 👋
