Virgelina Suárez has been growing coffee at Finca La Esperanza in Gaitania, Tolima-Colombia for more than 30 years. Last weekend, her washed Bourbon Rayado scored 87.10, made the Top 15 at the International Coffee Fair in Colombia 2026. She will now go on to compete at the Colombian Cup of Excellence competition. It’s pretty awesome to see her coffee — and all the years of work behind it — get this kind of recognition.
Virgelina is part of the Women’s Project, an initiative working alongside women coffee growers in Tolima to create new opportunities for their coffees in specialty markets. Her coffee has made its way from the mountains of Gaitania to Alaska, where we’re currently roasting it for our collaboration with Data for Indigenous Justice.

a huge congratulations to Virgelina, and a big thank you to her and the Morales Suárez family for the years of work, knowledge, and care behind these coffees.

even better when you’re having fun with friends and neighbors Alyeska Resort Blueberry Festival!

we’ve collaborated with the resort to bring you a very special coffee from the Sidama region of Ethiopia. It’s bursting with blueberry and chocolate flavors, with a kiss of hibiscus and a lovely blueberry/lavender aroma.

Alpine Violet honors our excitement for that time of year when we can head up North Face or down the Winner Creek trail in search of those juicy berries.

All weekend, this coffee will be available in your favorite drinks at the Tramway Cafe, at all bevy and pie stops within the fest, AND you can take home as many bags as you would like. (For all the folks who’ve been with us when we’ve released Shantawene Village in the past, this is your sign🤤)
