A Word of Encouragement for Small Business Owners

Building a business takes faith, courage, and perseverance. There will be seasons when sales are slow, doors seem closed, and the vision God gave you feels harder to carry than you expected.

In those moments, don’t pray less—pray more.
Don’t trust less—trust more.
Don’t believe less—believe more.

God is not intimidated by economic conditions, setbacks, delays, or obstacles. The same God who gave you the vision is able to provide the provision.

When challenges arise, go back to the One who called you. Seek His wisdom for every decision, His peace for every concern, and His direction for every step.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

“Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” — Proverbs 16:3

Business owners, don’t let temporary struggles cause you to abandon a God-given vision. Stand on His promises. Stay faithful. Stay consistent. Keep sowing. Keep serving. Keep believing.

What God started, He is able to sustain.

Pray more. Trust more. Believe more. God is still writing your business story.

A question every small business owner should ask themselves:

If every customer treated my business the way I treat other businesses, would I call it fair?

If every customer expected discounts the way I expect discounts…
If every customer paid late the way I pay late…
If every customer canceled at the last minute the way I cancel…
If every customer took products without paying the way I take from others…
If every customer left negative reviews without communication the way I criticize others…
If every customer supported my business the way I support other small businesses…

Would I call it fair?

As business owners, it’s easy to want people to value our time, our gifts, our products, and our hard work. But God also calls us to treat others with that same honor and respect.

Integrity isn’t just how we run our business—it’s how we conduct ourselves in every area of life.

Before asking God to bless our business, we should ask ourselves:

Am I treating others the way I want my customers to treat me?

Because the same grace, loyalty, honesty, and support we desire for our businesses should be the same grace, loyalty, honesty, and support we extend to others.

Success built on integrity will always outlast success built on shortcuts.

Before you run to Google with a 1-star review… give small businesses a chance to make it right first. ❤️

Most of us are not big corporations with endless employees and automated systems. We’re real people putting our heart, time, money, tears, and long nights into what we do every single day.

Mistakes can happen. Miscommunication can happen. Bad days can happen.

But what hurts is when a business never even gets the opportunity to fix the issue before being publicly torn down.

A conversation can solve a lot.
Grace can solve a lot.
Communication can solve a lot.

At the end of the day, good businesses WANT to correct problems and make customers happy. We learn, grow, and improve from respectful feedback.

So before the review…
Try the phone call.
Try the message.
Try the conversation first. 💜

Because one review can affect a family-owned business more than people realize.
