So my mom had a stroke several years ago that left her severely disabled. She refused solid foods for a really long time. So I devised a plan to cook her really nutritious broth sparing no costs. I tricked her into drinking it regularly, and then friends came over and encouraged me to introduce it as a restaurant concept.
And so, California Hot Pot was born.
P.S. The human brain is incredibly elastic and forgiving, but also very fragile. Here's my mom's youngest sister visiting from Taiwan. My mom was practically disinterested in all stimulation until her sis showed up. Our loved ones are deeply, deeply imprinted into all of us. Much love to everyone during this difficult time.
