SCAM ALERT from RPSO

The scammers are at it again and getting more creative.

This morning, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office received reports of phone calls from someone claiming to be “Deputy Sheriff Clark.” The caller says a 9th Judicial District Judge has hand-picked you to review a 250-page document in a class action case, but there’s a catch. They pressure you to give personal information, claiming it’s required by law or you could face arrest.

It’s a scam.

Scammers are counting on good people wanting to help law enforcement or the courts. Don’t fall for it.

RPSO reminds everyone:
🚫 Never give out personal information over the phone.
🚫 Don’t believe anyone who threatens arrest or legal trouble.
🚫 Hang up and report it immediately.

Thankfully, the citizens who got these calls recognized the scam and hung up before giving any info.
