It’s time to repurpose “the meat we don’t eat.”

If all discarded meat were sent directly to the landfill (as much as 50% of the animal, here in the U.S.), all available space would be completely full within about 4 years!

Thanks to renderer repurposing of discarded scraps, fats, and oils from packing plants, grocery stores and restaurants, less goes into the landfills and more goes toward creating nutritious pet food, biodiesel, and many other useful products.

Registration is now open for the 2026 Pet Food Alliance Technical Meeting, co-located for the first time with the American Meat Science Association Reciprocal Meat Conference!

Join industry leaders, researchers, and regulatory partners June 24–25, 2026 at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas for two days of collaboration, technical discussions, networking, and working group engagement focused on the pet food and rendering industries.

Today is National Train Day – the day we celebrate the USA’s grand history of railway transportation.​

Trains play an important role in the rendering industry. Our nation’s railroads are frequently used to transport rendered products -- from used cooking oil to rendered animal protein -- across the country to shipping ports for export overseas.​
