šŸ”„ Field Trips & Such šŸ”„

Friends… let’s go on another field trip.

Today’s stop was The Slice & Tap.

They just opened this week, and let me tell you, they came out swinging šŸ’ŖšŸ¼šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

We grabbed the Smoky Caprese, the Pimento Pepperoni, and the Appalachian Hawaiian. Then we added the Hot Honey Pepperoni Chips(ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!) and The Holler Cheesy Bread because apparently moderation isn’t something we practice around here lol

Every bit of it was fantastic!

While I was there, I got to meet the owner, Colin. The dude was absolutely getting after it. Answering phones, taking orders, running the register, talking to customers, and doing about 47 other things at the same time. You know, just casual new owner stuff… doing it all

I always respect seeing that šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

A lot of people see a new restaurant and think, ā€œOh cool, a new pizza place.ā€

What they don’t see is the owner working his tail off trying to make sure every customer leaves happy.

The place was busy when I stopped in, which was awesome to see. I hauled the food back to the shop and our team absolutely demolished it. That’s usually a pretty good sign.

This is exactly the kind of business I love supporting. Good people. Good food. Fair prices. Taking a chance and building something in our community.

Go see Colin and his team.

And if you order the Appalachian Hawaiian, don’t be one of those people that argues about pineapple on pizza. Just eat it. šŸ˜‚

If you rock with us, go rock with them šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

National Donut Day is one of my favorite holidays because unlike most holidays… there’s literally no downside. šŸ©šŸ˜‚

Swung by Richy Kreme Donuts this morning to grab a dozen donuts for the team and the place was absolutely getting HAMMERED.

Line out the door. People stacked up everywhere. That kind of slammed.

And because it’s National Donut Day, they were handing out free donuts too šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

The coolest part wasn’t the donuts though.

Dustin wasn’t there this morning, probably at the other location, but his team was absolutely rolling. Just smiling, hustling, keeping the line moving, and taking care of people while the place was packed.

That’s always what I notice as a business owner. Anybody can run a smooth shift when it’s slow. It’s when the wheels should be falling off that you find out what kind of team you’ve got.

His team was awesome. Literal perfection šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

We’ve said it a thousand times and we’ll say it a thousand more. If you love local businesses, support them when they’re busy too. Not just when they’re struggling.

Today was a good reminder that this community shows up for the businesses it loves.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a box of donuts and absolutely zero self-control.

And after you indulge in a breakfast donut, swing through for a Reuben!!!

Had an absolute blast today at the United Way of Blount County golf tournament at Green Meadows.

Now listen, I’m not saying I’m solving all of Blount County’s problems, but getting the Alcoa and Maryville athletic directors on the same team has to count for something. I may need to add ā€œcommunity diplomatā€ to my resume lol

And with that I had the privilege of spending the day with Alcoa High School Athletic Director Josh Stephens, Maryville High School Athletic Director Landon Harris, and one of our longtime regulars, Jack.

Around here, the joke is always ā€œAlcoa by a million.ā€ And while I’ll probably never pass up an opportunity to give Maryville a hard time, the truth is we’re incredibly fortunate to live in a community with great schools, great people, and leaders who genuinely care about the kids they serve.

One of my favorite things about Blount County is that when it’s time to support a good cause, the rivalries get set aside. Alcoa, Maryville, William Blount, Heritage… we’re all on the same team when it comes to making this community a better place.

We’re just proud and fortunate to support just about every school, every team, and every organization that’s investing in the next generation.

Rivalries are fun on Friday nights and throughout the year.

But community is what matters every day of the week 🧔

Thanks to United Way for putting on a great event! We had a blast!

(But for the record… Alcoa by a million.) šŸ˜

I have absolutely no business running a 5K šŸ˜‚

Yet somehow, on June 6th, that’s exactly what’s happening.

If you’ve known me for any amount of time, you know running is not ā€œmy thing.ā€ I’m pretty sure my knees are still trying to file complaints about this decision.

But I’m doing the Red Door Run for Isaiah 117 House Blount County TN, and honestly, there’s not a better reason to get out there and suffer through 3.1 miles.

So I figured I’d throw this out there and see if any of y’all want to come make questionable life choices with me. Let’s get a squad together for this!

Run it. Walk it. Jog for 45 seconds and immediately regret it. Doesn’t matter šŸ˜‚

It’s for an incredible cause and every bit of it helps kids going through unbelievably tough situations.

Sign up here:

And if you use my referral code to sign up, lunch is on me afterwards šŸ¤

If you sign up, let me know. Misery loves company.

The Isaiah 117 Red Door Run - Blount County is on Saturday June 6, 2026. It includes the following events: 5K Open, 1.17 Mile Fun Run/Walk, Sleeping But Supporting, and 5K Virtual Run Anywhere Run/Walk.

May has been kinda wild around here.

A month ago we threw a birthday party and somehow this community helped us raise nearly $14,000 for Isaiah 117 House Blount County TN.

A couple weeks later y’all showed up again and helped us raise nearly $2,000 for United Way of Blount County.

And this week we got to donate toward Shop With A Cop of Blount County too.

And honestly… I think the biggest thing I’ve learned through all of this is just how much this community actually cares.

We’re literally just a sandwich shop. That’s it šŸ˜‚

But somehow y’all trust us enough to jump in beside us when we get behind something bigger than sandwiches. And every single time, this community shows up.

That’s the cool part about local businesses that people sometimes miss. When you support local, your money doesn’t disappear into some giant corporate black hole. It stays here. It helps kids here. It helps families here. It helps organizations here that are doing real work in our own backyard.

And seeing that happen month after month has honestly been inspiring.

I’m blown away by the support y’all continue to show us. Truly.

And because of that, we’ll continue to show up for this community every chance we get šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

MEMORIAL DAY UPDATE šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

-(Brought to you by Subs & Such and AI slop)

We’ll be CLOSED on Monday 5/25 for Memorial Day.

Truthfully, our crew has earned a day to breathe a little. Some of them will be at the lake. Some at the river. Some grilling out. Some doing absolutely nothing. And honestly? Good. They deserve it.

Now… before anybody gets funny ideas… yes, a few of us will still probably be inside the shop cleaning, organizing, moving stuff around, and pretending we’re ā€œjust gonna stop by for a minute.ā€ That’s restaurant life šŸ˜‚

But NO… sandwiches are not happening lol.

More importantly, we want to take a second to remember what the day is actually about and honor the people who gave everything for this country and the freedoms we get to enjoy every day. We’re incredibly grateful for that sacrifice.

We’ll see y’all back Tuesday ready to roll šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

Got invited by Brian over at GoTeez Clothing Co. to the The Savannah Bananas game last night at Covenant Health Park and I’m still not sure what I just witnessed šŸ˜‚

That was less of a baseball game and more of a full blown spectacle. Absolute chaos in the best possible way. Music, dancing, entertainment nonstop, people hanging off balconies, sold out crowd losing their minds… easily one of the coolest sporting events I’ve ever been to.

And the seats? Unreal.

But honestly the best part of the night was just the people. Brian invited me out and treated me like family the whole time. Couldn’t have been more grateful for the opportunity.

And if you know Brian, you know the dude NEVER sits still. Him and his team at GoTeez handle all our stuff for Subs & Such, and somehow on top of that he’s got lemonade and ice cream stands inside the stadium too šŸ˜‚. Not to mention The Bigfoot Festival, JeepFest, etc. Dude is always busy. If there was someone that embodies the saying ā€œMake hay while the sun shinesā€, it’s Brian and his family.

And the coolest thing about it all is seeing the whole family involved. His kids working the stands, his wife helping run everything, everybody grinding together. Real family business stuff. The kind of thing I’ll support every single time.

Good people.
Good family.
Good business.

I left there last night honestly just feeling grateful.

Lucky to know people like that.
Lucky to live in a place with people like that.
And lucky somebody thought enough of me to invite me along for the ride šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

Regina Jennings from Pinnacle pulled up this morning looking like she was delivering the Lombardi Trophy šŸ˜‚

Absolute UNIT of a cookie from Great American Cookies celebrating the Reader’s Choice wins.

And honestly… this is exactly why relationships matter in business.

Regina has been awesome to us. Always supportive, always encouraging, always willing to answer questions or talk through ideas when I’m trying to figure something out. She’s one of those people that seems to know everybody in Blount County and somehow still makes time to help people anyway.

Unofficial mayor of Blount County might honestly be underselling it at this point šŸ˜‚

And the coolest part? She genuinely roots for local businesses. Not just us. ALL local businesses. You can tell she actually cares about seeing people succeed around here.

Also… side note:
If someone shows up with a cookie this big, you legally have to trust them. I don’t make the rules.

Really grateful for good people in our corner.

And shoutout to Great American Cookie Company too because this thing is ridiculous šŸ¤˜šŸ¼
