There’s a food truck rolling around the Albuquerque area where nothing on the menu is meant for humans.

Bark Bar was launched in March by Chad and Megan Rutter and serves treats specifically for dogs, including homemade pup cups made with fat-free Greek yogurt. Flavor options include xylitol-free peanut butter and banana or pumpkin and cinnamon, with toppings such as dog biscuits, beef sticks, cookies, whipped cream and honey.

The owners say the idea came from wondering why there wasn’t an ice cream truck-style experience made specifically for dogs. They believe Bark Bar may be the first dog-only food truck of its kind in New Mexico.

Bark Bar moves between parks, pet businesses and community events throughout the Albuquerque area rather than operating from one permanent location.

The business also gives free treats to volunteers taking shelter dogs out for the day and has encouraged locals to volunteer with or adopt from area shelters.

The truck has already started building a following among local dog owners, and its weekly stops are shared through Bark Bar’s social media pages.
