Running a small business always comes with surprises, but this one has me completely baffled.

My Workforce Solutions/unemployment tax rate just skyrocketed to 5.5%. The kicker? I’ve only had one employee receive unemployment benefits in the last 4 years.

When I called to find out why, the agency told me they have absolutely no idea because there are no notes attached to my account explaining the hike.

I’ve filed an official appeal, but now I’m stuck in limbo waiting for answers while paying an inflated rate for no apparent reason.

Has anyone else dealt with unexplained rate hikes or ghost accounts like this lately? How long did your appeal take to get sorted out? 👇
