BACK DOWN SOUTH… PORT SULPHUR! 🦞🔥

It’s always such a pleasure to come back to a place that trusted me with so many different roles and responsibilities before I stepped out and took on this food truck journey full time.

This place was a big part of my story.

The people, the lessons, the long days, the opportunities, the relationships… all of it helped shape me in ways I’ll always be thankful for.

And now, to come back on the other side of things and have those same people support The Backyard Boil speaks volumes about the kind of people I had the privilege of working with.

That means more than y’all know ❤️🙏

Life has a funny way of bringing things full circle sometimes…

And today, we came back with a grateful heart, hot pots, and a whole lot of appreciation.

CRAWFISH SEASON IS OFFICIALLY OVER FOR US… 🦞❤️

Y’all… what a season it was!

From the pop-ups to the catering events, from the long lines to the sellouts… y’all made this crawfish season one we’ll never forget 🙏🔥

BUTTTT…

Just because crawfish season is wrapping up doesn’t mean we’re done bringing y’all that seafood fix 👀

As soon as Da Crab Guy gets back from vacation, we may be looking to do a little collab with him and those BLUE CRABS 🦀🔥

Y’all already know we love teaming up with good people doing good things, and this dude AND his family are some of the best people you’d ever meet (check out that Dock Dust seasoning too!!)

And this one could be FUNNNN 😅

Sometimes God’s direction isn’t very clear. And, it doesn’t help when you’re an impatient person like me…

In the middle of a trying season, unclear of the Lord’s directions… then this scripture!

God is always good! Even in all of my undeserving ways, He shows up!

HUMP DAYYYY ☀️🙏🦞

Good morning Facebook!!

Wednesday is usually one of our busiest days behind the scenes.

It’s the running around day.
The ordering day.
The planning day.
The restocking day.
The “make sure we’re ready to serve y’all right” day 😅

It’s not always the glamorous part of this business…

But it may be one of the most important parts.

Because without days like today, the best parts of serving people would never happen.

Preparation matters.

Everybody loves the serving days.
The full pots.
The smiling faces.
The loaded platters.
The lines.
The conversations.
The community.

But before any of that happens, there has to be preparation.

And life works the same way.

Sometimes we get frustrated in the prep season because it doesn’t feel exciting. It feels slow. It feels hidden. It feels like nobody sees the effort going in.

But God sees it.

Proverbs 21:5 says:

📖 “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.”

That speaks to me.

Because preparation isn’t wasted time.
Preparation is where growth happens.
Preparation is where discipline is built.
Preparation is where God gets us ready for what we’ve been praying for.

So if you’re in a season right now where it feels like all you’re doing is preparing…

Don’t get discouraged.

Keep showing up.
Keep doing the work.
Keep praying.
Keep trusting the process.

Because when the time comes, you’ll be thankful you didn’t skip the prep days 🙏❤️

TUESDAYYYY 🌮🙏❤️

Are we getting tacos today or whatttt?! 😅

As I was thinking about my post this morning, it crossed my mind that today is Taco Tuesday…

And since my favorite taco is a hard shell taco, it made me think about those times you get a taco and the shell is all broken.

All the contents are there…

The meat.
The cheese.
The lettuce.
The sauce.

Everything you need is still present…

But because the shell is broken, it just looks different. It’s harder to hold. Harder to manage. A little messier than expected.

And y’all…

That reminded me a lot of life.

Sometimes everything is still “there” on the outside…

But internally, there’s brokenness that makes life feel harder to carry.

And if I’m being vulnerable, I’m in one of those seasons as I type this.

This past year has brought so much change. Family, jobs, positions, business, decisions, growth, pressure… all of it.

And while I know God is good, I’d be lying if I said every day felt easy.

But here’s what I’m holding onto this morning…

Broken doesn’t mean useless.

A broken taco still has everything needed to be good 😅🌮

And a broken season can still have purpose, growth, healing, and direction in it.

Psalm 34:18 says:

📖 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”

Whew ❤️

So if life feels a little messy right now…

Don’t give up.

God is still close.
God is still working.
God is still holding the pieces together when we feel like we can’t.

Sometimes the season may look different than we expected, but that doesn’t mean God isn’t still in it.

Keep trusting.
Keep praying.
Keep showing up.
Keep believing.

Because broken pieces in the hands of God can still become something beautiful 🙏❤️

MUNDANE MONDAY??? 👀☀️

It doesn’t have to be ❤️

Several years ago, I heard about a study that said the brain can’t fully focus on fear, worry, anxiety, and gratitude at the exact same moment.

And man… that stuck with me.

Why?

Because gratitude is a choice 🙏

We can look at Monday as the same ole start of the week…

Emails 📧
Phone calls 📱
Paperwork 📄
Schedules
Responsibilities
Blah, blah, blahhh 😅

Or…

We can choose to find something to be thankful for.

Thankful we woke up.
Thankful we have the ability to go to work.
Thankful we have eyes to read those emails.
Thankful we have people to love, serve, and encourage.

And maybe today, we can make someone else’s Monday a little brighter too ❤️

Bring an extra coffee ☕
Grab a few donuts 🍩
Send an encouraging text 📲
Hold the door 🚪
Smile at somebody 😊

It doesn’t have to be much.

But it matters.

I choose to have an attitude of gratitude.

Ooooo, it’s not always easy 😅

But if we look hard enough, we can find blessings even in difficult seasons.

So today… don’t let Monday be mundane.

Find the good.
Be the good.

Man… this is BIG for us.

I never imagined actually being here.

From praying, planning, dreaming, cooking, serving, learning, messing up, getting better, and continuing to push forward…

To now having merch and a website coming soon?!

It honestly feels surreal.

Like I’m dreaming ❤️🙏
