Wadsworth is our hometown and it feels great to bring composting to such a wonderful city. 🍃❤️

Rubber City Reuse is partnering with Wadsworth United Methodist Church to bring a new compost drop-off location to Wadsworth residents. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held today, September 21, at noon to celebrate the new site, which will offer a convenient local option for dropping off food scraps and other accepted compostable materials.

After signing up through Rubber City Reuse, participants receive a free 5-gallon bucket with a leak-proof lid delivered to their home. Once full, the bucket can be emptied at the drop-off site and reused as often as needed. Membership also provides access to finished compost at Rubber City Reuse’s Barberton service center and Downtown Akron headquarters. A monthly program fee applies. Great program for our friends in Lorain County

Our community has collected 4,780 pounds of food scraps in 2026 through the Scraps to Soil composting program! That’s more than just food waste diverted from the landfill. Those 4,780 pounds are equivalent to 31 urban tree seedlings grown for 10 years and 209 gallons of gasoline not burned in terms of greenhouse gas emissions.

Scraps to Soil is made possible through our partnership with Rubber City Reuse, helping turn food scraps into nutrient-rich compost instead of sending them to the landfill.

Turn your food scraps into something useful! Lorain County Metro Parks’ Scraps to Soil program provides a free way for the community to compost food waste and keep it out of the landfill.

Here’s how it works:
• Collect accepted food scraps at home.
• Bring them to a Scraps to Soil drop-off site at Carlisle Visitor Center, French Creek Nature Center, Lakeview Park or Miller Nature Preserve.
• Place your scraps in the designated collection area.
• Our partners at Rubber City Reuse collect and haul the food waste for composting.

Through our partnership with Rubber City Reuse , collection and hauling are provided at no cost to the community. The food scraps are transformed into nutrient-rich compost, giving them a second life and returning valuable nutrients to the soil.

Composting helps reduce landfill waste, supports healthy soil and turns something we normally throw away into a valuable resource.

USCC Member Rubber City Reuse has launched a composting program in partnership with the City of Stow, Ohio.

Residents of Stow will now have free, 24/7 access to food waste drop-offs at two locations across the city. The new program is the first municipally-funding composting program in Summit County, Ohio.

Scraps to Soil is making an impact! Since launching just three months ago, our community composting program has diverted 3,275 pounds of food waste from the landfill.

That’s 3,275 pounds of food scraps that will be transformed into nutrient-rich compost instead of becoming waste. Thank you to everyone who is collecting their scraps and helping us turn leftovers into a valuable resource for our community. Every scrap counts!
