Union Café for exquisite coffee with a taste of local culture
We not only supply global, regional and local markets with fabulous green bean and roast coffees, but we also take great pride in serving up our wonderful coffee to visitors of our Union Café in downtown Moshi.
We have a contemporary espresso bar serving coffee drinks, cakes, muffins, pastries, sandwiches and pizza made fresh to order from only the highest-quality ingredients.
Or if you prefer a more substantial meal, choose from our a la carte menu offering a delectable fusion of exotic flavours and continental cuisine.
Guests enjoy superb cuisine, attentive service and elegant surroundings while at Union Café. Boasting of delectable dishes that are prepared using only the freshest produce, meats and spices; you are assured of a satisfying culinary treat.
We have chosen to decorate the cafe in a contemporary style but with a touch of local culture and an inviting veranda space where guests can enjoy attentive service whilst watching local life pass by or read one of our complimentary newspapers, all as you enjoy fine Mt Kilimanjaro Coffee.
The Café is open from 7:30am to 8:00pm seven days a week and offers an array of on-site conveniences including secure parking and WiFi Internet connection.

Hard work and dedication behind every bean

It takes the hard work of 60,000 small-holder coffee farmers to produce our exquisite organic single origin Arabica.

High on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, our farmers tend their 0.5Ha coffee gardens. They prune their coffee trees and plant shade trees – native trees and bananas - to protect the coffee and encourage biodiversity, as well as diversify income. They w**d and mulch the rich volcanic soils and, when needed, further enrich the soils with organic manure.

The coffee flowers bloom in April, when the gardens are full of buzzing bees - helping pollination.

Between April and October (depending upon altitude), the coffee trees produce green coffee cherries in clusters along the branches. Over the next weeks and months, the cherries then turn yellow and, finally, a deep vibrant red.

Although picking individual coffee cherries by hand is very labour intensive, it produces the best quality coffees. Pickers go out into the farms with baskets, picking only the ripest coffee cherries.
